The next step will be how well they can integrate them into the first team. Smith hasn't been a prolific user of the youth teams at Villa thus far, but to be fair that's probably been down to quality in as much as anything. Always difficult for young players at mid table and lower premier league clubs with the threat of relegation never conducive to youngsters getting opportunities. Grealish is probably a good example of a player who was ultimately struggling in that kind of environment and really needed that relegation to and seasons in the championship to find his feet.
