Beckham had a goal and Scholes an assist. Scholes did well playing on the left midfield wing, but you could tell he wasn't playing his natual position. Did well on the cross for the winning goal for Owen to knock in. Becks was everywhere. He plays for England much like Keano does for United. His delivery was excellent on the day, despite the pitch. Of course, the press had a bit of a go at him since he backtracked so much and drifted into central midfield. They don't seem to understand that Becks' options are limited when he comes back to receive the ball, they blast him for pulling the midfield out of shape when he does this. Nevermind, that the other team would have possession in acres of space if he doesn't come back. [wankers!] Butt had a less than spectacular day. His game is suited for easy passes, and the pitch really was not condusive to his style of play at all... Neville played well for coming back into the side. I saw that some of the pundits knocked him as being AWOL for the Slovak goal. But they also knocked Southgate and Woodgate for the same thing?!?!? Is Gazza "Superman" now? He played his position well and should keep his spot for Wednesday...
