ramsdale is a much better keeper imo taller, better with crosses and good with his feet I feel like Pickford has been good for England so I’m not too fussed but ramsdale is better at club level
I think Loftus-Cheek should be back in contention. Hes the kind of player we need. Comfortable in possession. Can link defence with attack
Pickfords been amazing for Everton in the last few games. If Everton stay up, he will be a big part of it.
Granted Pickford has had TWO excellent games but overall he’s been very poor and unpredictable this season Ramsdale is just as good and extremely consistent. I know who’d I’d rather have in the goals .
Southgate isn't dropping Pickford, he's not put a foot wrong for England and he's had a good 6 months for Everton. He actually has a better expected goals - goals allowed metric than Ramsdale this season.
Arsenal will probably get third place as I predicted- earlier in the season ( to some laughter as I recall )
When you say probably is this just your own assumption, as most models have them at ≈19% chance of finishing 3rd, Chelsea 80% and Tottenham 1%. https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/soccer-predictions/premier-league/ They might get third, but Ramsdale has the 3rd worst expected goals - goals allowed per 90 metric of Goalkeepers with 1000+ minutes (only Foster and Mesilier are worse), and has got progressively worse as the season has gone on. Rising Ballers have announced that Saka has been voted their under 23 Pl player of the season with Smith Rowe, Foden, Rice, Mount, Guehi, Alexander-Arnold and Ramsdale making the Under 23 squad of the season.
Early in the season he was flying but he's got a lot worse as the season as gone on. John Harrison had him rated as one of the best in the league around Christmas. He uses a model that looks at goal prevention in a more holistic way - shot stopping + preventing chances through sweeping, command of area etc. THREAD:How good has #Ramsdale been for #Arsenal so far?I’ve seen him described as both “the signing of the season” & “a camera save merchant” but what does the data say?In this thread I will breakdown his performance in all areas of goalkeeping using my bespoke models#AFC pic.twitter.com/EtfecSW94s— John Harrison (@Jhdharrison1) December 24, 2021 It was similar last season. In the first half of the season his shot stopping was terrible but he got a lot better in the second half of the season. Like Pickford he's unstable. I think Ramsdale's top level is better than Pickford's though.
The concern is he's 30, going on 31, and only plays a dozen or so games against decent opposition every year. He'd be nothing more than a stop-gap.
It’s not a case of dropping anyone. We have four games in June and it would make sense to rotate keepers. You don’t want to be going into a World Cup with Pickford on 30+ caps and Ramsdale/Henderson on sub 5 caps.
not looking too good for Leeds. Phillips has been a key player ,so I wonder if Southgate will add him to the world cup squad even if Leeds drop.
