He gives you a fantastic return over the course of a season, but in critical moments you still never quite know what you're going to get. Through on goal, 1v1 with the keep with time to think, there are still quite a few players I would rather have in that position than Sterling.
His decision making on the ball is probably his weakest trait as well as penalties. Still a fantastic player though and a starter IMO.
I predict that come the tournament, Sterling & Rashford will start with Kane. Two bad performances from them at any point and we will screaming for either Foden, Grealish or Saka to replace them on this forum.
Also Rashford but can’t remember off the top of my head how much he played during the World Cup. We also had Welbeck and RLC but the options now are so much better.
James Maddison is injured again, apparently seeing specialists. Doesn't sound overly serious but seems likely it will put him out of contention of next months squads. Speculation that Henderson's injury is worse than feared and maybe out for the season which would presumably but his Euro's in serious doubt also.
If Maddison is out of next month’s games then he’s all but out of the Euro squad barring injury to other players. Henderson would be a blow. We could do without him in March but ideally need him back for the Euros. Vital big game experience
Rodgers says he is not expecting James Maddison to require surgery on his hip injury: "The hip has just been irritated, where he had the injury before. He’s seeing a doctor today to get a second opinion. Once we have that we’ll work out a plan to get him back into the team."
Not playing enough to get in the squad but still worth posting - What a goal! To even try this bicycle kick takes confidence... 😳Take a bow, Dele! 🚲 pic.twitter.com/AWJbibdxR1— Football on TNT Sports (@footballontnt) February 24, 2021
He's still go time on his side. Could see him getting back into the squad down the line if he starts playing regularly again and performing.
Just on Sterling, think tonight against Monchengladbach was a prime example of one of those games he was just not good! Nothing came off for him, had a touch like an Elephant, decision making poor and every 1 and 1 I think he failed. Terrible game and hope his form improves.
Discussion about this on the England forum... if it’s a watered down event then I’d rather not bother. Would prefer us to host a proper tournament with fans in a few years.
Not really sure where else it belongs tbh, maybe I can put it on the General football thread instead.
Sorry, I didn’t mean for you to move it. Just meant that there was currently a discussion about this very tweet on another England fans forum.
