Glad for Barkley btw, for some reason he's one of the most criticized players in the PL but I've always rated him and he more often than not performs for England.

He never quite fulfilled his potential

still a good player. Criticism is often unfair, decision making could be better at times but it's not nearly as bad as some pretend

That’s my qualm with him .. he showed great potential at Everton and I had such high hopes for him but if he’s plateaued, at best

Problem for Barkley is he gets caught out when he has time to think.

All three apparently broke the rule of 6 yet nothing will be done .. seems odd ..

Do these players never learn? They have to be dropped now. Means reinforcements will have to be called in. Maybe recall foden and Greenwood. Give them an opportunity to redeem themselves. Or probably not

Doubt they'll be dropped. Foden and Greenwood were in the 'bubble' and could have put the next game in jeapordy.

Squad haven't met up yet so not so much at risk.

Just the 5 right backs in the squad then...

Surely it would make much more sense to call up Barkley (even if, I assume a right back is dropping out).

Do we know why? Must surely be a right back pulled out even though we still didn’t need another right back called up imo.

Southgate taking the rule of six seriously and not taking more then 6 right backs. Btw how many centre backs in this squad?

    Edit

I see now hes getting Reece James. Does that make it 6 now?

If I'm not mistaken James can play leftback . Wouldn't be surprised if he's been brought in to replace chilwell

James is actually really good at the right sided centre back in 5 man back line. He can also play in the middle of the park.

Shaw should be called up. Especially if there are any doubts over Chilwell.

Abraham, Chillwell and Sancho told to stay away from St.Georges Park today due to breaking the rules. Got to say I feel a bit for Abraham since he knew nothing about it as it was a surprise for him and put him in an awkward situation but the other two, there’s no excuses. I mean, I don’t even live in the UK but I know the rule of 6 implemented by the Government and whether you like it or not you just have to go with it. I’m lost for words of how dumb these people are, especially the ones organising it! I mean did they not think this is probably not the best idea!

Completely unproven at the top level in the middle of the park

Wonder what goes through Southgates mind at times, Barkley has been of the best performers in the qualifiers, suddenly completely ignored in a 30 men squad with 5 right backs and just one playmaker (Grealish).
