Tuchel at least for now, and likely all of it, although I do think a poor Nations League campaign would really ramp up the pressure on the FA to make a change.

If we were beaten twice by Spain and got a couple of poor results against Croatia and the Czechs I think the media would quickly get toxic. Tuchel has already lost a huge chunk of backing from both the media and the fanbase basically overnight.

Whether the Nations League would be deemed important enough to force the FA into a change I don't know, but Tuchel is really fighting against public sentiment now. Tough place to be for a manager.

Equally we could do a Portugal and win the Nations League, deceiving everyone into thinking the manager and the team is improving, only for it to regress to the mean at the next international tournament.

The FA very, very rarely sack anyone for poor performance. Generally they let people run the course of their contracts. It's only off the field matters that take out most managers. In the last 30 years:

Venables - End of contract due to off the pitch issues
Hoddle - Sacked for off the pitch issues
Keegan - Resigned (wasn't sacked for group stage exit at Euro 2000)
Eriksson - Contract not renewed for off the pitch issues
    McClaren - Sacked
Capello - Resigned over captaincy issue
Hodgson - Exited end of contract (wasn't sacked for finishing bottom of world cup group)
Allardyce - Sacked off the pitch issues
Southgate - Exited end of contract (turned down pre-tournament extension)

Only one manager actually sacked for on the pitch performance, and that was failing to qualify. Tuchel certainly isn't any danger after making a semi-final (or realistically, even the RO16 was enough).

I suspect the Spain Nation's League games will be important for him to salvage some of his reputation with the fans. He was very much as sold as the master tactician who'd give England an edge against top teams so unless he can show something against those sides it risks becoming a damp squib two years for an unfortunately timed home tournament. Repeat these tactics and it'll become a poisonous atmosphere.

I think this NL campaign is massively important for Tuchel if he stays. He has to make the finals and, potentially, has to win it.

Trying to be an optimist, regardless of general opinion towards the tournament, I would hope if we actually could manage to win it that might go some way to removing the mental block this team has.

But if the FA were ever contemplating a change, which I don't think they are, it should be now. The manager won't have time with the squad until the next, moaned about, international break so it's effectively a fresh start for whoever is in charge.

The bare minimum he needs to do is make the QF’s. If he doesn’t then people will push for him to be sacked as that most likely means at least one defeat to the Czechia and/or Croatia. (Both of which have new managers)

Unfortunately it seems the media who attend the press conference are all taking the line - Tuchel made errors and he needs to apologise/improve but that he shouldn’t be sacked. Which feels like it might be the defence used for the next two years.

Hopefully we get a decent team or two in qualifying to challenge us in qualifying.

I actually wish it wasn’t it at Wembley. Wembely on a Saturday night is likely to not be somewhere that turns really angry even if we thrashed. But if it was somewhere like St James Park? That could be brutal.

I had completely forgotten that the first international break is two weeks long.

    That's going to be annoying.

Presumably been told by Tuchel he won’t be considering for the National team then as can’t see Tuchel picking him from the Championship.

Morgan Rogers going to Arsenal can't go well. Whatever happens. If he performs well Arteta will play him for 60 games pr season until he develops one of those signature Arsenal fatigue injuries. If he does'nt perform, he'll be useless for England anyway.

I really hope as many English players as possible go abroad. Premier League players in general does not do much in tournaments. No PL player scored for England in the World Cup. Only PL players I can think of that performed well in the world cup are Rodri, Haaland and to some degree "sicknote" Odegaard. Both Odegaard and Rodri played only about 30 club games each this season. Haaland plays more games, but his job is to stand around and wait for an opportunity to score.

Pedro Porro has been very good, as has Enzo Fernandez. But I take your point if we have players playing at the highest level in the other top European leagues and Champion League, they will likely avoid the physical pitfalls of the PL.

Enzo Fernandez is one of those players whose very best seems to come internationally while he has a much more mixed time at club level.

Not exactly a surprise cosndering he played in the warm up match.

Through it all reminds me a bit of the end of a prime minster’s time with reports about how this will be the rebuild and recovery etc.

Are the Rio comments from the press conference before the game of shame? if so, at least it is giving the fans something. Something he will be doing different. Still a long way from there to doing something really innovative. Like banning all Arsenal players, because they play to many games for their club. LOL. That would be something.
