He’s played full back 19 times this season. If you wanted to protect him from doing a lot of running then I’m not sure you’d be putting him midfield.
It's not only the running, it's the sprints up and down the touchline that Chelsea are trying to mitigate the risk to him (and his hamstring) from by playing him in Midfield.
Guehi and O’Reilly start for Manchester City. Trafford, Stones and Foden are on the bench. Lewis-Potter starts for Brentford. Henderson, Dasilva and Nelson are on the bench. Jordan Henderson unfortunately has returned to fitness.
Colwill in from 11/1 to 11/2 with Skybet. An eye-catching game in the Cup Final would give him a real chance
Bernardo Silva just did the arm version of David Beckham’s sending off against Argentina at the 98 World Cup.
The booing culture is getting ridiculous. City get booed off the pitch for completely dominating and having more shots than in any other first half they've played all season.
I do think of all the high profile duals playing for other countries he's not one we are really going to miss. He had a good goalscoring start for city but even then he has clearly looked technically a step below. Now the goals have also dried up (will definitely score now). Feels like this seasons version of Marmoush.
Watched the game and I was thinking that myself.. reminded me of that… I think that was more of a red than beckhams
I was watching the highlights of that game earlier on , looking at Sol Campbell two disallowed goals , World Cup 98 v Argentina and the one against Portugal in euros
Have been really unlucky.. I’ve watched England from Euro 96 and we’ve been so close and had some bad decisions against us, beckham red was soft.. disallowed goals against Portugal was soft too
I’ve been watching since 86 and yeah we’ve had some rotten luck over the years starting with the Maradonna handball. Not necessarily always decisions from the refs but just bad luck in front of goal too, Waddle’s hit post against West Germany in 1990, Gascoingne’s toe nail in 96 amongst the notable misses.
Yes Euro 96 definitely one I feel we should have won.. how the ref missed that maradonna handball ! Gutting . My first int tournament was USA 94 which was brilliant I thought . Despite us not in it .
Wonder how much of an advantage it is for Colwill that he's fresher/less fatigued than his opponents. Tuchel only used him once in that defeat against Senegal and didn't seem that impressed. Hinted Colwill was to blame for at least one of the goals conceded iirc. Many forget England got lucky against Spain during the Euro 1996 quarter-final though.
This reminds me of that funny quote. Fans always think their “system” has finally clicked when in reality they’re just playing West Ham. They're playing a poor Liverpool. I saw a stat that Chelsea were outrun in all 35 league matches until playing Liverpool.
