Did you watch the game? I wasn’t able to, but some of his numbers don’t look greatest and saw he got the lowest rating for Lyon from L’Equipe, I’m sure he had a decent enough game, but not sure he was great. Here the whole, match if anyone fancies analysing Morton’s performance, hopefully Tuchel is! https://m1xdrop.click/e/wlkd993ec7q8q8 Les notes @lequipe @hugoguillemet @Tanziloic @regisdupont #TeamOL pic.twitter.com/xao4IeDbQE— Tom Ford🦁🇬🇭🇫🇷 (@TomFord1406) April 19, 2026
Yeah I didn’t see it either but was regularly checking on my app and he was the lowest rating for Lyon there also.
I didn't see the game, no. Footmercato, one of the other French newspapers however, praised Morton for the way he "relentlessly sought to break up PSG’s passing patterns ... provided a constant threat... and was invaluable in disrupting the Parisians' midfield". I guess the truth lies somewhere between the two. Either way, Lyon are up to third and Morton has played a big part in getting them into the CL places.
The French and Spanish discourse have been well aware that Donnarruma is error prone against aggressive front foot opponents and invites a breakdown of his teams ability to play their way out of pressure. Probably why PSG were happy to sell him. IMO it's worse when a keeper makes an unforced error like he did compared to ones you typically see like failing to clear a cross cleanly or letting in 'a savable shot' from distance. Trafford is much better suited to Peps philosophy of positional football. Really don't know why they bought both keepers and let Trafford rot on the bench for a season.
Oliver Glasner expects to have Adam Wharton available for Crystal Palace's trip to Liverpool this weekend. #CPFC— Bobby Manzi (@BobbyManzi) April 20, 2026 Exclusive: Newcastle are prepared to open talks to sell Anthony Gordon to Bayern Munich if the German champions match their £75 million valuation for the England forward.Full story;https://t.co/OyQ3uVxfOs— Martin Hardy (@mhardysport) April 20, 2026
They'd be stupid not to open talks if if someone offered them £75m, absolutely no chance Bayern will though.
I tend to agree that Rice is a runner. Anderson however can take balls under a press and pass and dictate play very well. I was curious about other teams midfield though after your comment though. Fifa top 10 and some of these players may be wrong. But they aren't as scary as thought. France in particular is weaker than you would think. France: Tchouameni, Rabiot, (Dembele) 2 man pivot really Spain: Pedri, Rodri, Merino Argentina: McAllister, Enzo Fernandes, De Paul Portugal: Vitinha, Bruno Fernandes, Ruben/Joao Neves Brazil: Bruno Guimaraes, Casemiro, (Cunha) 2 man pivot really Netherlands: De Jong, Gravenberch, Reijnders/Simons Morocco: El Aynaoui, El Khannous, Saibari/Ounahi Belgium: Onana, De Bruyne, Tielemans Germany: Goretzka, Wirtz, Stiller/Pavlovic I would say Portugal, Spain and Argentina is a better midfield. Maybe Belgium as well. Though I am not sure Tielemans and De Bruyne has enough legs. I don't particularly rate, Germany, Netherlands and Brazil or France's midfield. Morocco I don't know enough about.
We don’t really know though for sure, when was the last time we put out a midfield of our strongest three in Anderson, Rice and Bellingham? In fact I can’t remember having seen that midfield three start a game for England or?
Newcastle will sell Anthony Gordon, 25, to Bayern Munich if the German champions match their £75m valuation for the England forward. (Times - subscription required) , external England midfielder Curtis Jones, 25, is unhappy playing a fringe role at Liverpool and could leave in the summer. (Football Insider) England centre-back John Stones, 31, is expected to leave Manchester City in the summer as a free agent. (Fabrizio Romano) Manchester United are admirers of Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton but may opt against the signing as the Old Trafford club view him as too similar to Kobbie Mainoo - The Telegraph Juventus are among the clubs keeping tabs on James Trafford's situation at Manchester City - Daily Mail
Curtis Jones would do well somewhere like Italy or Spain. I can't think of any English club that he'd go to. Maybe Newcastle as tonali's replacement

Hinshelwood starts for Brighton. Steele, Dunk and Welbeck are on the bench. Chalobah and Delap start for Chelsea. Sharman-Lowe, Tosin, Acheampong and Derry are on the bench. Palmer has an hamstring issue. Being described as minor but feels like him not being fully fit might see Tuchel leaving him out for someone else. Chalobah is nailed on to go now he is back I suspect.
Watching a thing about Collwell coming back from injury. It might be my imagination but he looks a lot skinner than he did before his injury.
Chalobah's in with a chance but considering he's only been capped once by Tuchel, and then immediately got dropped from the squads after that, i'd say he's far from nailed on.
Tuchel said last month that Chalobah was above Maguire in his eyes and seemingly saw him as only below Stones, Guehi and Konsa.
He said that and yet dropped him from all his squads this season, even when he was doing well (he did eventually get called in to the November squad as a replacement). What Tuchel says and what Tuchel does are often different things.
So, are you telling me there’s still hope, even if it’s just a minuscule of hope that Henderson might not go to the World Cup?
If Tuchel seriously thinks that then I’m personally flying back to England and driving Tommy T straight to the nearest mental institution!
I don’t mean in terms of starting but his presence in the dressing room is seemingly seen as essential.
I just don’t or can’t believe it’s deemed as so important that Henderson being a good chap in the dressing room makes a World of difference to lets say Anderson, Rice and Bellingham’s performances on the pitch. There is already enough experience in the squad that will go, I just think this Henderson issue is a load of nonsense really, make him part of the backroom squad if he’s good in the dressing room. I just can’t fathom to understand how Tuchel thinks Henderson would be a player who would improve the starting midfielders as a substitute. It’s just self sabotaging the whole team, especially when we have better midfielders than him. If I’m proved wrong then I will happily eat humble pie but playing an already aging Henderson in the conditions in the US is just bonkers imo.
