I agree that if Kane is ineffective in certain games he should be hooked for other options but I think we saw that in the summer when he was being taken off more than he had in previous tournaments. I just think the calls for him to be dropped from the team entirely were a bit premature because he’s still England’s most reliable source of goals.
Solanke has to score once or two for Spurs before he gets a call up - he is already facing quite a bit of criticsim.
You really do love hamming up a situation. I haven’t seen much criticism from Spurs fans at all (and I consume a decent amount of content) he played one match against Leicester ( and suffered an ankle injury in the first 10 minutes) and one after coming back from injury (thought he was decent against Arsenal).
I know but it is irrelevant to the point I was making. If he had done O.K. off the bench in that game he very likely gets more time off the bench against AC Milan.

City youth lost 4-2 to Inter just now but there are some more interesting stats from the game. City vs Inter Possession 77% - 23% Passes 704 - 211 Pass accuracy 93% - 72% City started the game with 10 English players and finished the game with 11 English players, fair to point out that their 2 goals were scored by a German. When you think how we struggled for possession in the 2020 Euro final against Italy these stats become more interesting.
I will be surprised if Rice and Saka appear at both camps this autumn - Arsenal are surely going to try and pull at least one out of one of them knowing the FA will probably not want to outright overrule a club manager publicly that saying they shouldn’t
Lewis and Grealish starting for Man City. Carson, McAtee, Foden, Stones and Walker on the bench. If Foden doesn’t get a start soon I wonder if Carsley will leave him out of the next squad .
Steele, Webster and Hinshelwood start for Brighton. Doyle starts for Wolves. Forster, Gray and Solanke start for Spurs. Maddison on the bench.

There's not enough subtlety and composure in Foden's game. On nights like this you really see it. A few occasions where he really could've made a difference but he's just got his head down and doesn't think. Long standing issue.
‘Mason Mount, back to training as he’s ready to be back in the squad after injury.’ England left-back Ben Chilwell is still expected to leave Chelsea in January, despite the 27-year-old returning to first-team training after failing to secure a move in the summer. As revealed by Mail Sport's Craig Hope, the Magpies have opened preliminary talks with England international Gordon over a new deal. Club captain Bruno Guimaraes is the club's top earner on around £160,000 a week - but it is understood any new contract for Gordon would eclipse the Brazil star's salary. Gordon was the subject of concrete interest from Liverpool over the summer, while Arsenal are monitoring the winger's situation very closely. Mail Sport understands that the 23-year-old was open to leaving for a Champions League side during the summer. However, Newcastle have made securing Gordon's long-term future their top priority and are willing to raise their current wage ceiling to persuade the attacker to stay. If the 23-year-old doesn't extend his deal, Newcastle may consider selling him next summer.

The FA and U.S. Soccer are in talks to stage an international friendly between England and the USMNT before the men’s World Cup in 2026.More from @AdamCrafton_ and @mjshrimper ⤵️https://t.co/Ggkur0yJGh— The Athletic | Football (@TheAthleticFC) September 20, 2024 The Football Association (FA) and U.S. Soccer are in talks to stage an international friendly between England and the USMNT before the men’s World Cup in 2026. The date and venue of the proposed fixture is yet to be decided but it is likely to take place on the east coast of America in June of next year. However, any games organised by U.S. Soccer with teams from Europe is dependent on results in the UEFA Nations League and World Cup qualifiers. U.S. Soccer hopes the match will help build national interest in the men’s game ahead of the 2026 World Cup, which the United States is co-hosting along with Mexico and Canada. Attendances have been in decline for national team games amid the USMNT’s surprise group-stage exit at the Copa America earlier this year. Canada’s 2-1 win over the USMNT in August — their first victory on American soil since 1957 — was watched by just 10,523 fans in Kansas City. Former Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has been tasked with leading the team through to the World Cup after being named as Gregg Berhalter’s head coach replacement earlier this month. The two countries last met in the group stage of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, where Gareth Southgate’s side were held to a goalless draw before being eliminated by France in the quarter-finals. The USMNT have beaten England twice in their 12 previous meetings. Their 1-0 win at the 1950 World Cup remains the country’s most famous victory. The two sides last met in an international friendly a year before the 1994 World Cup in America, which England failed to qualify for. England have not played an international game in the States since 2005.
‘Unai Emery on Ollie Watkins, who was seen icing his ankle after coming off in Switzerland. ‘He’s available 100 per cent to play. He had some problems (niggles), like other players, but not relevant.’’ ‘Enzo Maresca: “Since he arrived here, Jadon Sancho is working hard on and off the ball”. “We use the international break to focus on him. He is doing well”.’ ‘Enzo Maresca: “Reece James is still out and his recover is a bit delayed”. “The most important is that they come back when they are 100% fit. Reece is still not available”.’ ‘Enzo Maresca when asked for a schedule for Reece James’ return: “No… unfortunately, we don't have an idea at the moment on when he will return”.’ ‘Postecoglou also admitted Spurs were interested in signing Ivan Toney but Solanke was their first choice option.’
‘Every player needs a break and rest. Phil had some disturbance in [the] last few weeks but played a good 45 minutes in midweek. He was the best player last season, and now he is fighting to be back.'’
