Konsa was already being selected for England under Southgate, although he didn't pick Konsa as first choice ahead of Stones and Guehi (rightly so) Tuchel rates Stones as his most important defender to how he wants to play (not Konsa). A match fit Stones is irreplaceable for England, Konsa is not as irreplaceable. Tuchel has used a lot of different CB's thus far. But whenever Tuchel picks Konsa over Guehi, hes often paired him with Stones, to compensate for Konsa's lack of ability on the ball. Guehi and Konsa have only started together probably twice under Tuchel, probably because Tuchel prefers other CB pairings.
Do you watch his highlights on Red Devils on Reddit. he scores so many goals. Just so many goals and a lot of them are brilliant. His talent looks incredible.
Sounds to me like he’s from the Tony Evans school of journalism who just despise anything English so it makes sense for him to be so bitter about us producing young talented players. Not sure really why he would be involved in a podcast when he presumably knew they would talk about young English players when it obviously makes him uncomfortable.
That’s an Irish football podcast right? I’ve listened in the past, the type of English guests they get on are in the ones that aren’t England fans.

"EXCELLENT touch, and quite the finish as well" 👌Brilliant from Adam Armstrong to pull one back for Wolves! pic.twitter.com/vftGisrMCz— Sky Sports Premier League (@SkySportsPL) March 16, 2026 This clip shows here how Hendo's legs have pretty much gone. He's had a fairly poor half for Brentford here.
He's been outstanding for Villa including in the champions league. He's been every bit as good as Guehi for England
https://one-versus-one.com/en/compare-players/Elliot-Anderson-vs-Aleksandar-Pavlovic Pavlovic trails Anderson in almost every metric. As you mentioned, he might be a better passer, but Anderson is superior in ball carries and has a higher successful dribble rate. However, as Marcho said, playing for Forest and for a dominant side like Bayern are two completely different stories. Anderson takes much more risk, while Pavlovic mostly plays it safe with sideways passing. As shown in the link above, Anderson is far more progressive. He’s also better in every defensive category: aerial duels won, interceptions, blocks, and ball recoveries. You can see it for yourself if you follow the link. From the games I’ve watched, Anderson is a more versatile player, while Pavlovic seems quite limited to me.

Oliver Kay in the Athletic in an article about Max Dowman mentions that Kobbie Mainoo is expected to be recalled this week. Meanwhile some of their writers have chosen their squads. Main debates are Ramsdale vs Pope for third keeper, Burn v Maguire, Foden or no Foden and Welbeck v Calvert-Lewin. Gordon doesn’t make very squad. Some of them are not convinced Tuchel should take all 26.
I don’t read the Athletic, but isn’t this just him giving an opinion/expectation? If I was going to guess (and most people on this forum were to), we’d also say that’s expected that to happen too.
‘But that inclination to fast-track players into the senior squad can still cause difficulties, particularly when a player’s development slows down. Kobbie Mainoo played at the last European Championship finals at the age of 19, but lost his place in the squad after a dip in form at Manchester United and has not represented England at any level since. He is expected to be recalled to the senior squad for the forthcoming World Cup warm-up matches, but it felt counter-productive that he was considered to have moved “beyond” the under-21s when, like Lewis Hall and Adam Wharton, he could surely have benefited from the experience at times over the past 18 months.’ This is the Paragraph.
Regardless of whether he’s recalled or not, at least Kay has brought up the issue of players being called up to early and then once have a dip in form move into International football purgatory and can end up not playing any International football for a few years whilst still qualified for the U21’s. This process doesn’t make much sense to me apart from alienating those players like Mainoo and countless others before him.
Spanish press saying Tuchel has told Rashford he is concerned about his playing time at Barcelona. https://www.football365.com/news/th...-cup-squad-manchester-united-barcelona-future
Honestly, I do think reports of a dramatic career resurrection for Rashford at Barca have been somewhat exaggerated. He hasn't really pulled up trees there notwithstanding a couple of goals in the Champions League. I tend to think Eze would be a better option for the left (taking Gordon being in the squad as read), but Tuchel could go either way.
No English starters for Man City. Trafford, Stones, Guehi, Lewis, O’Reilly and Foden are on the bench. Trent starts for Real Madrid. Chalobah and Palmer start for Chelsea. Sharman-Lowe, Merrick, Tosin, Acheampong, Delap, Mheuka and Kavuma-McQueen are on the bench. White, Rice, Saka and Eze start for Arsenal. Ranson, Lewis-Skelly, Dowman and Madueke are on the bench. Quansah starts for Leverkusen. Jude didn’t make Real Madrid’s bench. ,
