Yeah possibly, but even then that strategy only works if you keep the quality consistent. Based on what we've seen and with prior selections, it wouldn't bode well imo Whenever we've made subs, and particularly when Henderson has entered the pitch, we've seen a fairly notable dip in team performance quality and a loss of control of the game. Tuchel even noted this himself in the last international break. A big problem is that there's nobody else who can come close to offering what Anderson does, unless Jones in the team. Jones is quite different to Anderson but his on-ball quality is the closest thing we have to Anderson. We're not getting that from anyone else.

They've all got a decent enough chance, if my maths is correct the odds of none of them going is over 11/1, worth a few quid if you are that convinced.
I think this is as good a prediction of the squad as any i've seen, quite a few 50/50 calls. I wouldn't be surprised if Eze who's been in every Tuchel squad so far remained in over Madueke for example, though wouldn't be surprised if Madueke is in either. I don't get the feeling Tuchel has ever been overly keen on Watkins either given he's been dropped when fit twice to look at other options, and has been in much worse form this season. Though even with that i'd be surprised if he didn't get replaced with another striker.
🏴 Thomas Tuchel is here tonight... English starters; Ramsdale, Trippier (retired int.), Hall, Willock, Barnes, Trafford, Stones, O'Reilly.— Craig Hope (@CraigHope_DM) March 7, 2026 Tuchel at St James Park tonight.
Stones is so slow nowadays, not surprising given his body is basically breaking down with constant injuries but certainly wouldn't give me much confidence against anyone pacey in the world cup. We looked so much better under Tuchel with a dynamic, athletic back 4 than we did trying to shoehorn and have to work around the limitations of a cumbersome centre back in the side.
Starting him would be a risk but Tuchel really rates him. But Guehi and Konsa is increasingly the better option
Howe's decision to put burn on up against savinho is mind boggling. Hall had the measure of him mostly. To put a big lumbering defender against a pace merchant makes no sense
I feel like the are exhausted to a degree. Howe doesn´t rest his key players enough over the course of a season imo.
John Stones that pass was unbelievable omds https://t.co/vx8y7zRL32 https://t.co/SOEnEhlFRY— Danis (@DanisMCFC) March 7, 2026
They ran into the same issue last time they were in the champions league. Although I think this season their horrendous transfer business has really done them in. Losing Isak was always going to be extremely difficult to get in someone who'd do as well as he did for them, but over £200m spent bringing in Woltemade, Elanga, Wissa, and Ramsey was eyebrow raising at the time and has only looked worse and worse as the season has gone on.
