Eliott Anderson vs Manchester City (A)We lost out on Semenyo, we cannot lose out on him. Different level of composure.pic.twitter.com/IGHmAXKG49— AFC_Adi (@AFC_Adi06) March 5, 2026
I think they're about the same level. Zubimendi is probably a bit better on the ball, but softer off it.
I have sympathy with the players, not least because Jude is one of them, but Madrid’s injury crisis is major karma. Their egomaniac president has been one of the driving forces behind all of these extra games and expanded competitions, because it lines his pockets, and now his club are paying the price. Sadly though, he’ll step down soon, having changed the landscape of the game for the worse and the players will be the collateral damage of it all.
I didn't realise how much of a mess their medical department is. I've been reading what Madrid fans have been saying and supposedly they've had a well below par medical department for decades. A lot of their high profile players (Ronaldo included) essentially invested in their own medical team, and Mbappe is supposedly now doing the same. Quite ridiculous for a club of that stature.
I’d say Anderson is better, especially when you consider the respective teams they play for. He’s certainly the more rounded player. I really think Anderson could go on to a whole different level in an elite side. https://www.squawka.com/en/comparison-matrix/?compare=qtqy3QmAHff5U1HdcL2sh I’m not cynically adding in stats there, just adding in the ones I think are most relevant to playing in midfield, anyone can adjust the categories if they disagree.
Agreed. I don't think Zubimendi is by any means a bad player, I think he's very decent, but I've never been overly impressed by him at Arsenal. His time in the PL has just made me more annoyed that we made him look as good as he did in the Euro final if anything. That's not to take anything away from Anderson though, who like you say, can very much mix it with the elites in the game.
Yeah Bale and Hazard also were heavily struck by injuries throughout their time there as well, though in fairness to Madrid, I think in both those cases it was down to the individuals.
Jonathan Pearce on the radio is giving a sort of eulogy for them at the moment! Just listed a long list of their legendary players and saying people want Harry Redknapp brought back in.
Who plays line-breaking passes the most often in the Premier League this season?Over 1 in 5 passes Adam Wharton completes are line-breaking.Incisive 🎯 pic.twitter.com/4rZXgZWFtk— Gradient Sports (@Gradient_Sports) March 5, 2026
Didn't he look good tonight. That pass for the 3rd goal was ridiculous. The only place with that pace and weight it could go for a goal chance and he did it wtf. Spurs... my god.
If/when Anderson gets his big move he could start giving Rice a run for his money as Englands best alround midfielder. I've said it before and i'll say it again this England midfield could be something special.
We've had special midfields in the past but we've not had a manager who can gell them together. Hopefully tuchel can. They're all quality midfielders in their own right but sometimes the best individuals don't always make the best midfield. I go back to Argentina who don't have on paper an anywhere near as good a team as us but they're lightyears ahead in terms of cohesiveness. I'm not getting over excited about this England team. I've seen disappointment too many times
He belongs further forward does Wharton imo. He's a specialist passer who could be an elite creator if he had a bit more license to play further up the pitch. He needs to get his next move after Palace right.
Gray and Solanke started for Spurs. Gallagher was used from the bench. Austin, Rowswell, Olusesi and Kyrematen were unused. Henderson, Wharton and Mitchell started for Crystal Palace. Hughes and Clyne were used from the bench. Solanke scored Gray and Wharton (X2) got assists.
also, that Wharton pass for the third. you can't even blame the CBs. on the half turn (from a really good ball from the back) and a chip through in a blink. elite tier ball.
Manchester City are close to completing a deal to sign England midfielder Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest. (Teamtalk), external Anderson favours a move to City over neighbours Manchester United, but Nottingham Forest value the 23-year-old at more than £70m. (Talksport), external
