Spain have always performed alot better against European teams, especially in Euro's tournaments. Why this is I dont know, could be a style-matchup issue where Spain are more suited to dominating the ball against other euro teams. In my lifetime, outside of their World Cup win in 2010, I dont remember them getting past the Qtr finals of a WC and they always seem to lose, if it goes to a penaltys. A bit like England at the world cup really..
Everton are eyeing a move for Arsenal’s English defender Ben White, 28, to solve their problematic right-back issue. (Football Insider) Tottenham remain interested in a move for Atletico Madrid and England midfielder Conor Gallagher, despite Aston Villa being favourites to sign the 25-year-old. (Teamtalk), external

It's quite funny that Spurs are struggling with ball progression and creativity, and their answer to that was Conor Gallagher. How much of an eyesore are they trying to be?
Mbappe’s attitude absolutely stinks, he is a disgrace. Madrid have never been a team with a sophisticated, modern tactical approach. But at least before he got there, they had basic balance and more importantly, seemed to be a fairly happy and harmonious camp. He has way too much influence at the clubs he plays for, given he has won almost no trophies that actually matter in club football. You would’ve thought PSG going on to be much better without him may have somewhat humbled him, but no. I said it last season and I’ll say it again, I don’t believe any club side can ever be successful at the very highest level with him in their team. He is great in international football because the intensity, pressing and physical demands are much lower. In club football, where teams can’t afford passengers
🚑 Understand late calls to be made tomorrow night on Palmer, Gusto and James. Reece and Gusto have tightness (Gusto hamstring area) while Palmer continues to manage his groin issue. They have had a lack of training recently, too.— Max (@MaxFSport) January 12, 2026 Palmer is still struggling with his groin injury and hasn't been training consistently of late, reportedly.
And he is joining Spurs now 🚨 EXCL: Tottenham Hotspur closing in on deal to sign Conor Gallagher from Atletico Madrid. Clubs nearing agreement after #THFC made €40m proposal - expected to be accepted by #Atleti + 25yo England international believed to be keen on move @TheAthleticFC https://t.co/lCHpTEwyYB— David Ornstein (@David_Ornstein) January 12, 2026 Don’t see him making the World Cup (But then I see Henderson as already penciled in)
Is it do do with this? Really not a great look disrespecting your manager. After this, Xabi must have thought "Nope, it won't happen here"(Mbappe asking the team, and him, not to do the guard of honour to Barcelona) pic.twitter.com/43GLfE9AFj— Guillem Balague (@GuillemBalague) January 12, 2026
The main thing I hope with Palmer is that if Chelsea's medical team decides he needs surgery, he doesn't attempt to delay it until after the World Cup. He'd obviously be a huge loss to the team but it's not worth potentially sacrificing his long-term health just to be a half-cooked version of himself at the World Cup.
I suspect he won’t get the surgery till the summer for Chelsea’s own benefit. Logically if Palmer doesn’t go who will go instead?
Delaying surgery wouldn't necessarily be to Chelsea's benefit either. If pubalgia surgery is delayed too much it can cause long-term issues and permanent reduction in certain athletic traits. He's no use to Chelsea if the injury is making him play like this and it'd be a double own goal if they harmed his long-term health just to perpetuate his current form.
🚨 Conor Gallagher expected to fly to England on Tuesday to undergo medical + finalise details on long-term contract ahead of joining Tottenham Hotspur from Atletico Madrid. Agreement reached between #THFC & #Atleti over €40m permanent deal @TheAthleticFC https://t.co/lCHpTEw193— David Ornstein (@David_Ornstein) January 12, 2026
I would really love to know what Spurs' plan here is. €40m for a midfielder like Gallagher looks like a terrible allocation of funds on paper when you look at what their squad has and what it lacks.
Its just a desperation signing. I really don't think Frank has a clue what he's doing and I'd be surprised if he's at spurs next season
