A captain doesn’t have to start. There has been teams who have made a player who is not expected to start captain due to their experience.
BBC hoping it’s 4th time lucky. We have had 3 semis recently and all 3 have been on ITV. This time it will be if we make them. BBC R32 and R16 ITV QF BBC Semi.
Club football they can have an over all Club captain like John Terry still is for Chelsea but for International football? Would seem very odd for Henderson to lift the Cup if he has hardly played a part on the pitch…..

When you see this list and realise they’re all playing top flight football, you see how much depth we have.
Why is Foden that high. His return last time and his good form makes it pretty likely but it’s still more likely he is left out than D Henderson is.
It would. But I am sure I’ve seen captains at World Cup who don’t normally start but because of experience were made captain. None have won through.
It’s a betting market it’s literally where the money has gone. Go on betfair and back against it if you think the odds aren’t right!
Bellingham starts for Real Madrid. O’Reilly and Foden for Man City (Trafford, Bettinelli and Lewis on bench). White, Lewis-Skelly and Madueke start for Arsenal. (Setford, Nichols, Salmon, Eze, Nwaneri, Copley and Saka on bench) Quansah starts for Leverkusen. Ramsdale, Livramento, Burn, Hall, Barnes and Gordon start for Newcastle. (Thompson, Harrison, Willock, Ramsey, Miley and Murphy are on the bench). Kelly starts for Juventus. Jobe starts for Dortmund. Chukwuemeka on the bench.
Nico o'reilly has the same problem as Lewis-skelly. He likes to come inside which leaves big spaces at left-back. And he's just scored
This is definitely the case but I do think we should be questioning it. Even if he doesn't start every game, he plays plenty enough to justify a spot in the team and he's clearly one of our better midfielders. I think there have been one or two clearly inferior midfielders to Jones in every single England squad in Tuchel's reign. Managers need to find the right weighting between playing time and the quality of the players in question. The likes of Alex Scott and Jordan Henderson would not be starting every week (or at all in Henderson's case) if they played for one of the bigger teams in the league and not a mid-table side. It's self-defeating to be that fussy about playing time imo.
I wonder what Real Madrid’s inevitable new manager will think of Jude and Trent. If Jude doesn’t get enough starts will Tuchel count that against him?
I’d imagine he’s being instructed to by Pep, for me he is a much better conventional Left Back compared to Skelly.
