I wonder if Shaw will get in the squad? Covers 2 positions looks to have got his fitness back.

Or he will be fit by the end of March. At this point no one knows.

Sorry to any wolves fans in here but this is such a beautiful thing, watching them collapse.
Years of buying cheap, foreign crap and not giving any opportunities to young English players is finally catching up with them, and I’m here for it.
    Hopefully they go down

That'd be 7 months post-injury which is really short for a full ACL rupture. Re-rupture rates are still around 10% around nine months after an ACL injury but drop to around 2% after 12 months. Most athletes don't report feelings back to normal until around 18-24 months post-injury.

I'm not expert on these issues but given his age we'd have to ask whether it's worth it. He's highly unlikely to be near his old level by the summer time.

I am a big fan of Colwill but would there really be any point rushing back a reserve center back? Guehi, Stones, and Konsa are clearly by far and away the first 3 choices.
    .
We don't particularly lack for centre back depth beyond them either. While lacking top quality there's a good amount of centre backs playing at the very top levels jostling for position.

I'd probably consider him for the squad. Not an easy route back for him though since Tuchel seems to want to play with a 10 the vast majority of the time. I think he's a good box-to-box alternative to Rice if we have issues attacking with Bellingham and Rice together but you'd have to alter the system a bit.

The approach that Tuchel has implemented makes it hard to see how Mount gets back into the squad even if he performs to a high level until the end of the season.

He’s in the same boat as Grealish but for different reasons. The deciding factor for these type of players is what Tuchel actually wants from his ‘finishers’ off the bench. It is still somewhat unclear.

We saw experiments with how to play without Kane but they didn’t really work. Same issue when attempting to replace Anderson or Rice. It is hard to know for sure who has a chance for that type of squad role when we don’t know what he wants.

It is pretty important that we get this issue right because it was a massive flaw under Southgate’s reign. A struggle to positively impact the game from the bench (not saying it never happened).

No reason why Mount couldn't be a left wing option tbf. He has the speed, and instinct and willingness to make runs in behind.

If Tuchel can reward ex-Chelsea players like RLC and Chalobah with call ups, then it really would be no surprise to see him turn to Mount at some stage. Especially after Mount's starring role in their CL winning season.

Yeah, l think the wise thing is to forget about Levi Colwill for the WC and let him build up his fitness in readiness for the next campaign.

It's just a damned shame that the minute we produce two quality young centre backs in Colwill and Jarrad Branthwaite, they both get bad injuries on the eve of an important WC season. At least Branthwaite is due back at the end of Jan.

Even then Tuchel could well prefer Burn to Branthwaite.

I like Branthwaite, but with the injuries and style of teams he's played in (for the majority of his PL career) particularly under Dyche last season, think its pretty fair for Burn to be above him in the pecking order at this stage.

Its a big if. But if he continues to play like that he 100% gets in the squad. Btw the Midfield/no10 options we have now are getting silly. We have 4 or 5 players who are fighting for 10no shirt. We have 2 of the best 6s in the league and one of the few players thats managed to stand toe to toe with Rice was James.

When it gets like this we have to start thinking about diversity of skill sets rather than solely thinking about who is the 1st, 2nd, 3rd best option etc. The quality of the player matters the most of course but we have the midfield options to deploy pretty much any game plan if we pick the right options. That adaptability is important imo.

I’m worried that Declan Rice’s need to miss training sessions etc will see Jordan Henderson get plenty of minutes at the World Cup.

I doubt tuchel would use Henderson as cover for Rice for 90 minutes. It would probably be either Anderson or Bellingham.
