Yeah it looked pretty horrible in that game and Tuchel largely abandoned it. We had Stones receiving the ball in the final 3rd with his back to goal on numerous occasions. A big issue for me with that plan is that assuming Saka and Palmer will play most of the minutes off the right, they are far more effective when they have an attacking right-back to combine with and play off. I think it'd weaken our attack on the right-hand side quite a bit. I get the logic in theory but if he's really worried about keeping the ball then the first thing he should be doing is rethinking his midfield selections. Curtis Jones should be in the squad and Tyler Morton should be under consideration too.
Heaven struggled so badly, looked so lost - hard to drop into start when had next to no football but was a tough night for him
Trent Alexander-Arnold is facing another lengthy spell on the sidelines at Real Madrid after suffering a fresh injury that will further impact his hopes of gatecrashing England's World Cup squad, with the right-back facing a minimum of two months out - The Times Pubs will be able to pour pints until 1am if England reach the quarters, semis or final of next summer's World Cup - The Sun
England midfielder Kobbie Mainoo, 20, will have his pick of at least 12 clubs if is he allowed to leave Manchester United on loan in January. (Mail), external Nottingham Forest are likely to increase their £100m asking price for England midfielder Elliot Anderson, 23, next summer. (Football Insider) Crystal Palace are continuing to monitor the situation of 28-year-old English centre-back Max Kilman at West Ham. 3 English starters for Aston Villa (Konsa, Rogers and Watkins) + 2 on bench. 4 English starters for Arsenal (White, Rice, Saka and Eze) + 4 on bench.
I'd feel 100 percent confident with konsa and ghuei as our centreback partnership going into the world cup. They both have a bit of everything. If konsa was 2 or 3 years younger he'd be playing for Man City or Liverpool
Wouldn’t be surprised if they drop £100m on Anderson in January too. I really want Arsenal to win the league but I just can’t see it.
I don't know if he's carrying an injury but Watkins looked a shell of himself physically. Struggled massively in his duels and looked very slow running in behind.
2 English starters for Spurs (Spence and Gray) + none on the bench. 1 English starter for Brentford (Henderson) + 2 on the bench. 6 English starters for Newcastle (Ramsdale, Livramento, Burn, Willock, Ramsey and Gordon) + 5 on the bench. 1 English starter for Burnley (Walker) + 4 on the bench. 2 English starters for Manchester City (O’Reilly and Foden) + 2 on the bench. No English starters for Sunderland + 5 on the bench. 6 English starters for Everton (Pickford, Tarkowski, Keane, Garner, Dewsbury-Hall and Grealish) + 3 on the bench 3 English starters for Nottingham Forest (Anderson, Hutchinson and Gibbs-White) + 4 on the bench. 3 English starters for Bournemouth (Smith, Scott and Tavernier) + 2 on the bench. 4 English starters for Chelsea (Chalobah, James, Palmer and Delap) + 2 on the bench. No John Stones on the bench so might be injured. I don’t see him going to the World Cup on this form. Welbeck, Delap or Toney could go instead. Assuming Tuchel keeps his word and does take more than one striker.
Ollie Watkins has been managing ongoing knee pain for over a year but will not require surgery. 29yo has missed training sessions as #AVFC aim to manage the injury, with Watkins requiring more rest, rather than surgery. I think City need some changes if they're to win the title personally. They're really soft at the back and too easy to rattle for physical teams. They were a little bit like this in their early title wins under Pep but they could relentlessly hoard possession which helped them curtail their defensive issues. If they sign Anderson that could be a needle mover. I don't think Arsenal are that impressive either, they just seem the least flawed and the most professional of all of them. They do the basics so well.
Morgan Rogers spent the majority of the game against Arsenal today, out wide. Is it a possibility, England can play both Bellingham and Rogers (on the left)..
No thanks, I want a balanced side with players in their correct positions. Pick a formation and then the best players in those positions. We need pace and width out wide to complement Kane, seen time and time again it doesn't work having no 10s shifted out wide
Kane now has a hatrick. There are two English starters for Leeds (Bogle and Calvert-Lewin) + 3 on the bench. There is one English starter for Liverpool (Jones) + 2 on the bench.
