Huh? The UK is extremely draonian for a supposed free country, while the US is probably the freest place in the West. Pretending this isn't true isn't patriotic.
The same US whose government restricts press access for publications which don't toe the line? The same US in which a TV show was taken off the air for making a joke the President didn't like? You are not wrong about the free speech situation in the UK, but the US is hardly a standard to aspire to.
Funny watching the Scots treating tonight like a massive thing and to us qualifying is 'yeah whatever '
Ah yeah but I'd like to see all the home nations there. Gives me something to watch and support. I root for them in other games and obvs hope they get thrashed by us. I'm not the ABE but for the celts, just doesn't feel right etc.
If Tuchel takes 2 players for each position as he’s hinted and - as I expect - 5 CMIDs and 5CBs (coz of heat and risk of injury/suspension) that means he has only 1 “wild card” to use between Foden, Palmer, Eze and more. #england World Cup squad analysis.https://t.co/VeumT0GrNV— Rob Dorsett (@RobDorsettSky) November 18, 2025 https://www.skysports.com/football/...ne-whos-in-departure-lounge-whos-left-at-home
It's all guess work at this point but almost inevitably injuries will take out at least one or two of our options, more if we are unlucky. Add form into that and the decision probably won't look as tough as it does on paper.
If all of Saka, Bowen, Madueke, Palmer, Rogers, Bellingham, Foden, Gordon, Eze and Rashford are fit and in form (which probably won't be the case), I'd personally be minded to cut Bowen and Foden, and take the other eight. But obviously it's very hard to call this far out.
That could be the defining decision for Tuchel. I dread to think how the media will react to either of those being left out particularly Foden. I suspect it make the coverage the last couple of days look all peace and love.
Im not really sure it would to be honest, I mean everyone can see it’s an area we are very strong in so some excellent players are probably going to miss out. It’s not like they are being left out for someone like Jake Livermore then there would be uproar.
Those two players are very popular with the media throigh. More so than Bellingham and Rashford (Partly For non playing reasons). There is a very noisy section of the media who will attack Tuchel for anything vaguely controversial. I think more Fans would rather Palmer than Foden go to the World Cup.
Quite a bit "if". I don't think anyone expect him to take 5 CMs and 5 CBs. I think the squad will look something like this: Pickford Henderson Trafford James Livramento Stones Guehi Konsa Burn Lewis-Skelly Spence Rice Henderson Wharton Anderson Bellingham Palmer Rogers Gordon Rashford Eze Saka Madueke Kane Foden [most in-form pure #9]
