In terms of who's actually on the bench we probably need quite a few changes. We've got Stones receiving the ball in small spaces high up the pitch. Don't really know what the point is.
Not enough movement, especially in midfield. Everyone seems content to take up positions that put them under pressure the moment they receive the ball.
I'm sceptical you can play Rice in an attacking role with Bellingham as the 10. The central attacking areas are absolutely clogged with players who aren't specialists in small spaces. Rice, Jude, Kane and even Stones at times. There's not a world where that won't just look clunky and awkward.
Bit of an odd half. Eze pretty absent from game. Bellingham doing some good running but erratic with the ball. I guess you learn more when something is going wrong so interesting half to come.
Thought Rice, Stones and Bowen were shite in that first half. Quansah at right back is hilarious. Neither wing back is offering much going forward. It’s all muddled thinking. What I would say conclusively is Burn and Bowen are good club players nothing more. They are not and never will be international standard players.
Mainly because Burn is too scared to pass to him. Passing has been quicker when Wharton has the ball, but he hasn't been on the ball enough.
Rashford saka on for bowen and eze. Both been invisible. Bowen just isn't international quality. I think I can say Anderson looks a better player than Wharton for England. Bellingham has been underwhelming.
Fwiw, I thought Bowen was one of the better players on the pitch and was trying to make things happen and always looking for the ball.
Poor half but whenever you make widescale changes like this, especially to fit players in rather than the system it's always likely to be underwhelming. Not overly concerning in that it seems as much to give people caps for squad management but you would hope the last we see of anything like this again.
This is getting really boring. Bowen was actually not worse than almost all of them. And definitely has been better than Rashford against Serbia.
Wharton is playing like he does for Palace whilst in a totally different game dynamic. Not really involved a lot and just looking for scraps to fire on to the forwards. I think Anderson is much the superior player.
- need to give Albania credit for being a brick wall. - need to get Wharton on the ball more, but give him the space to do so. - tempo far too slow from side-to-side and in the middle - fullbacks make me nervous.
Tuchel trying total football. So we'll be seeing Burn in midfield and Bowen as goalkeeper. This reminds of the Greece game with Carlsey.
I can't really understand these get X on for Y type comments: the problem is not with individuals, but the system. Also Albania is much more motivated.
