After a quick google search Hudson-Odoi, has a dead leg and could be available for the weekend, so might be available. I'm not saying he should be called up, but think it would be pretty silly for Tuchel not call up a specialist LW to replace Gordon in the squad. If Foden comes in it will be at someone else's expense.
Probably not but we need to stop picking square begs for round holes. Replace players like for like. That was one of Southgates problems, playing right backs at leftback and the such.
Nwaneri, Rice and Saka started for Arsenal. Harriman-Annous, Eze, Dowman, Lewis-Skelly and White were used from the bench. Setford and Sagoe were unused. There were no English starters for Spurs. Scarlett and Spence were used from the bench. Austin, Rowswell and Kyerematen were unused. Kane started for Bayern. There were no English starters for Liverpool. Jones was used from the bench. Woodman, Misciur, Gomez and Ngumoha were unused. Bellingham started for Real Madrid. Trent was used from the bench. Gallagher was used from the bench for Atletico Madrid. Sykes and Burgess started for USG. James, Tosin, Gittens and George started for Chelsea. Delap was used from the bench. Merrick, Chalobah and Acheampong were unused. Quansah started for Leverkusen. Egan-Riley started for Marseille. Gomes was used from the bench. Stones, O’Reilly and Foden started for Manchester City. Trafford, Bettinelli and Lewis were unused. Chukwuemeka and Bellingham were used from the bench for Dortmund. Pope, Trippier, Burn, Barnes and Gordon started for Newcastle. Murphy, Miley, Ramsey and Hall were unused. Not exactly shock of the century.. https://www.espn.co.uk/football/story/_/id/46870674/jude-bellingham-earn-england-recall-sources Jude Bellingham is expected to earn an England recall when Thomas Tuchel names his final squad of the year on Friday, sources have told ESPN. Tuchel will select a group of around 25 players for World Cup qualifiers against Serbia and Albania on Friday and sources have confirmed that Bellingham will be included following an upturn in form. It remains to be seen whether Phil Foden and Jack Grealish have done enough to earn recalls while 34-year-old Danny Welbeck is in contention for a place after six goals in his last six games for Brighton.
If Jude Bellingham or Phil Foden are not in tomorrow’s #england squad, it’s very hard to see how they will be in Tuchel’s World Cup squad. Feels like a crucial selection for the England boss, for all players, with only 4 matches to go til the big decisionhttps://t.co/xoGzkwgH5h— Rob Dorsett (@RobDorsettSky) November 6, 2025
Stupidity and fake drama over Bellingham aside this is a silly and inane point. We regular see players come into contention from outside the squad and even starting after November squads. The vast majority of the season is still to be played and there is a massive gap till the march games. If foden misses out tomorrow then puts together a great rest of the season he will be in. Mainoo hadn't even started a league game in his career till the end of November 2023 and ended up starting for most England's games that euros....
It does seem hyperbole but Tuchel has suggested he would leave out big players even if they in form if he doesn’t think they fit the system. And not selecting Foden tommrow could be because he does not think he fits the system not matter how in form he is. (Through his words about Foden in the last camp do suggest he is open to involving him again).
Yeah it probably is a testament to the strength of the team (or at least the forward line) that it's a weak spot. I think the issue is more pronounced because ideally we need a very specific style of left winger to both fit with Kane and balance out Saka/Palmer. I don't really think Eze is a winger at all while Grealish (who's best position is not out wide imo) is not a good fit for me.
Rested, Yates, McAtee and Gibbs-White the three English starters. Williows, Abbott, Thompson and Whitehall on the bench.
Told Elliot Anderson has been rested, amid a busy period of games. He has started all ten EPL games and all of the previous games in Europe.— Paul Taylor (@nottmtails) November 6, 2025
The Telegraph say there is a very good chance Danny Welbeck is recalled in their article confirming Bellingham will be recalled. They say the obvious player Bellingham will replace is Loftus-Cheek. They say Bowen and Watkins are at risk of being dropped.
Konsa, Rogers and Sancho start for Aston Villa. Oakley, Barkley, Elliott, Broggio and Watkins are on the bench. Henderson, Guehi. Hughes and Mitchell start for Crystal Palace. Matthews, Clyne, Wharton and Esse are on the bench.
Just looking at the list of players with a 'reasonable' chance of going next summer. Pickford Henderson Trafford Pope James Spence Alex-Arnold Livramento Lewis-Skelly O'Reilly Shaw Hall Mitchell Guehi Konsa Stones Burn Maguire Quansah - Rice Anderson Henderson Wharton Jones RLC Gallagher Bellingham Palmer Foden Rogers Eze MGW Saka Madueke Gordon Rashford Bowen Grealish Kane Watkins Welbeck Delap Is Madueke now in the pretty much nailed-on category? Apparently should be fit in a fortnight. I still have trouble seeing him in that category, but you could definitely argue it due to his profile and what he's done in his 12 months in the set-up. Trent looks to have pretty much zero chance. Grealish unlikely. Foden probable? Now or never for Wharton? Who gets a reprieve with Gordon's injury - and is it temporary? Pope in for Trafford? Where does Eze fit when the big boys really get back into the shake-up? Luke Shaw (obviously not playing LB - but playing well and a class player at his best) and Harry Maguire (surely a better bet than Burn?) outsiders to be called up tomorrow - or slightly more than that?
We need to be replacing players like for like. That was one of Southgates problems, playing right backs at leftback and the such. Its not like its must win game.
Going to be interesting to see if Lewis-Skelly makes it tomorrow. Since the last International window, he’s started 2 of the 5 games completing both games and had a few minutes of the bench. I think he might just have done enough to continue to get called up for now but not 100% sure about it.
Strange situation given the big role he's had under Tuchel. But, barring injury, can't see any way he's going to have the type of minutes this season to give him a proper chance of making the ultimate cut. It's not as if we will lack options come the summer So may as well make the big call now and give O'Reilly a chance to start this month
