I know this wales game is a ‘Must win’ in some people’s eyes, but I would honestly use this fixture as a chance to try some fringe players out. I’d want to see quansah get some game time and maybe Henderson in goal. Hopefully Wharton is called up in place of rice and given some minutes too. This is the perfect game to try them out in my opinion.
I would be pretty surprised if we didn't get wholesale rotations, we swapped out 9/11 last time in our last friendly.
It should but if Tuchel will I’m not sure. He might say he is keeping most so they get more time playing together after Serbia.
Tuchel drops Bellingham (as well as Grealish and Foden). An England manager making the point that no-one is indispensable. It’s about time https://t.co/wZ4F1jaUaa— Sam Wallace (@SamWallaceTel) October 5, 2025
Manchester United and England defender Harry Maguire, 32, is being lined up for a move to the Saudi Pro-League with Al-Nassr and Al-Ettifaq both interested in signing him. (Sunday Mirror), external United have the option to extend Maguire's contract at Old Trafford beyond next summer but are unlikely to exercise it. (Sunday Express) Bukayo Saka could be in for a positional change with a switch to the left wing on the cards. (Express) Barcelona chiefs are convinced they've bagged a 'bargain' in securing Marcus Rashford from Manchester United, and they anticipate his value will soar once he finds his footing at the Nou Camp. (Express)
It’s must win, in the fact we are a much better team than Wales and are playing at home, it’s quite far down the list of terms of relevant rivalries though, I think he’ll rotate most of the team.
And that losing would destroy all the momentum and optimism from the Serbia match and instead it be booing and concerns about how things will go in the World Cup.
It really wouldn’t especially if it’s a heavily rotated team even though it should still be too strong for Wales but football doesn’t always work like that but losing a friendly wouldn’t destroy anything was my main point other than give Wales their World Cup final plus with all the players we have injured and left out, some realism is needed.
Not in a meaningless friendly, and not in this particular specific scenario, they’ll rotate heavily, and they’d be stupid not too.
But you always get the impression that the Scots and taffys put beating England high on their list. It would be a huge scalp for them

I don’t think it’s so much performance but Tuchel simply decided after the Serbia match he wouldn’t make any changes and Saka only got back in because Madueke is injured.
I think he must of liked the squad dynamic and thought theres no need to rock the boat by bringing new players in.
