I’m not sure Tuchel will keep Wharton - now he has Anderson he might not feel he needs to establish Wharton as well.
We may not have seen the full benefit of Tuchel yet - yes we've been drab in the games against Andorra and co but I think you don't learn much from those games, if we hammer them 10-0 it has no bearing on tournament matches. Southgate was very good at qualifying and finding a way to win against opponents we should have beaten, but in the big games we played we were always tactically outsmarted. We saw against Serbia that Tuchel can get us playing well and can impact games which Southgate could never do. I was disappointed with the first few camps under him but now I'm excited again, we have great depth and I could see him having an impact in game which I never trusted Southgate to do
And now Anderson has shown his class and Henderson is also in good club form he might feel Wharton is not needed.
Honestly can see it being the same as those who turned up to this camp with the addition of Bellingham instead of Loftus-Cheek or Eze.
So if it's Eze who drops out (not happening) you think Loftus-Cheek remaining in the squad is more plausible than Wharton coming back in?
We're playing Latvia and Wales. What possible value is there in selecting Henderson ahead of the likes of Adam Wharton, Alex Scott or Curtis Jones?
Yeah, I mean I know Tuchel might rate Loftus-Cheek but he didn’t play a minute during the last International window which is probably pretty telling that his place in the squad will be in doubt for when Bellingham and Wharton come back especially. Loftus-Cheek remaining in the squad makes no sense at this stage.
I'm looking forward to seeing Newcastle arsenal and Chelsea in the champions league this week. The only 3 clubs with any real English contingent
I think Gibbs-White will drop out too tbh. Not a fan of it and I think it's harsh but it's pointless him being there if Tuchel won't play him.
It doesn’t but Henderson is de facto vice captain (Possibly even co Captain)so I doubt is going anywhere anytime soon.
Gibbs-White is a good player but i'm not sure he really demands picking given the players he's competing with. Clearly he will be behind Bellingham and Palmer, then you have Rogers and Eze who prefer to play centrally also. On a talent level i'd say he'd be rightly behind those 4, although Eze's England performances have been unconvincing so far. I also think Forest will almost certainly have a much worse season this year which will also make it much more difficult to stand out.
Yeah he doesn't demand picking but I guess it's how you view him. As a 10 he's definitely behind the names you mentioned but I think he's very versatile and can play further back in a more box to box role too which is an advantage. I think that's probably his best use personally. Saying that though he's started the season quite poorly. Still too early to draw any conclusions but you wonder if the fiasco this summer might have an impact on him.
Manchester City are set to rival Liverpool for the free transfer signing of 25-year-old England and Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi next summer, when his contract is due to expire. (Mirror) Everton will rebuff any approaches for England centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite in 2026 with the 23-year-old part of a long-term project at the club. (Talksport), external Crystal Palace and England midfielder Adam Wharton, 21, is keen to sign for Liverpool despite interest from Real Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester United. (Fichajes - in Spanish)
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/teams/manchester-city I agree with shay. Sutton is talking out of his arse
I think the only significant league that still has an open window is Greece, so if Olympiakos are sniffing around for someone then it may be relevant. Otherwise, it's meaningless.
