Rewatched the euro 2020 final and I am still so sad that Grealish and Sancho weren't subbed on in the second half
Curtis Jones injured, Liverpool heading towards more matches with no English starters and a 17 year old the most likely English sub to be used from the Bench. He got injured on the last match so they are suggestions that’s why Loftus-Cheek got called up instead,
Liverpool fitness news: Curtis Jones is not available for the game against Burnley after missing England camp through injury but the rest of the squad should be OK. Jeremie Frimpong has trained with the U21s this week, senior stars return today.— Lewis Steele (@LewisSteele_) September 12, 2025 So did miss England camp through injury?
It’s not entirely clear. Some are saying that but I can’t find Slot saying it - it’s possible Tuchel just wanted Loftus-Cheek more - Quansah getting in over the ‘Deserved to’ Chalobah shows Tuchel could have an odd approach to late call ups.
Liverpool are confident they are leading the race to sign England defender Marc Guehi, 25, next summer when the Crystal Palace defender's contract expires and are looking at an £87m deal to sign Bayern Munich and France winger Michael Olise, 23. (Caught Offside), external England defenders Harry Maguire, 32, and Luke Shaw, 30, are both under assessment at Manchester United as the club look to bring in possible defensive reinforcements next summer. (Teamtalk), external Man Utd could use midweek friendlies abroad to help fill the club's financial blackhole after failing to qualify for Europe this season. (The Sun)
And in the same breath, then start moaning that there’s too many games in the calendar, can’t wait to see that.
Mount stayed on the pitch for far too long. I still have no idea why he brought Rice off either. He was arguably our best player and was no more tired than Phillips was. Southgate's in-game management was a major downfall of his when you look back. Bringing off Saka against France in 2022 for Sterling was ridiculous too. Those Saka and Rice substitutions almost felt pre-planned before kick-off, with no consideration given to the game taking place in front of him.
Jacob Ramsey out until the next international break. I know he is miles away from an England call up now, but I still hope he could get over his injury problems and then who knows.
Have we seen anything in tuchel that might suggest he is more tactically aware in game than Southgate
Why? Just to cap-tie him by any chance? I don’t think there’s anything to worry about if that’s your thinking.
I know obsessing over dual nationals is your thing, but how on earth you can extend that to worrying that Quansah is suddenly going to up and declare for Scotland when he's on England's fringes because of a Scottish grandparent is really pushing the limits.
I'm not really concerned I just thought it was a good time to give him some minutes when we were 5-0 up
Everton are hopeful they can sign England winger Jack Grealish from Manchester City for a figure lower than the £50m fee they agreed as part of the 30-year-old's loan deal with the Toffees. (Telegraph - subscription required), external Manchester United are one of the clubs weighing up a January transfer window move for Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton, with Liverpool and Chelsea also interested in the 21-year-old England international. (Caughtoffside)
Rice dropped to Arsenal’s bench. Madueke and Eze the only English starters. White, Lewis-Skelly, Nwaneri and Dowman also on the bench. Anderson, Gibbs-White and Hudson-Odoi start for Forest. Yates, McAtee and Hutchinson on the bench. I wonder if the various statements this week that Rice is in the Pickford/Kane category of being absolute certian starter might turn out to be inaccurate
Statements from who? Presumably no one actually in the team/management so not sure why you’d give it credence. The fact that Arteta is actually willing to rotate his English starters is good from an England perspective.
Rice is also very clearly being rested, not "dropped". Players aren't being dropped every time they're on the bench.
Weird time to call for the downfall of Rice https://www.whoscored.com/matches/1...p-qualification-uefa-2025-2026-serbia-england But then FB has his quirks!
I mean in the media. After Tuchel said he might keep big stars on the bench some articles had a few name who will obviously start.
I wonder how the Arsenal fans ( selected fans I should say )are feeling after the hate towards him when he joined them from Chelsea. Such embarrassing behaviour!
