That’s some prediction there, you realise you have just jinxed Dan Burn now with your history of past predictions going wrong……..
Liverpool will not make a move for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi in January. The Reds failed in a £35m move for the 25-year-old England international last week and would only sign him now when his contract comes to an end next summer. (Times - subscription required), external Liverpool see the referencing of other clubs in relation to the Crystal Palace centre-back as a bluff to bring them back to the table on 1 January. (Telegraph - subscription required), external Birmingham City, Wrexham and West Brom are all interested in signing English midfielder Dele Alli on a free transfer. The 29-year-old recently terminated his deal with Italian club Como. (Mail)

Reading up on Serbia and it doesn't sound like they're in the healthiest of states. The fans seem pretty tired of the manager and despise the football they play. They've supposedly looked very toothless going forward recently. They lost Tadic through retirement and Mitrovic is playing in Qatar now, which is an even lower level than Saudi. His goalscoring rate for Serbia has slowed down noticeably, at least against half-decent teams. Jovic is playing in Greece now too so he's fallen fairly significantly. They're still damn strong at home though. In the last year at home, they've beaten Austria and Switzerland and drawn with Spain and Denmark. Will be a very good result if we win here.
Feels odd for someone like Mitrovic to be in Qatar at 30. Just two years in Saudi but won the league last year. Seems exactly the type of player they would want to retain to grow the league.
I can't help but think back to that 9-1 pummelling our Under 21s gave Serbia, straight after winning the Euros in '23. If that's any indication of how limited the Serbs are, in terms of squad depth and young talent coming through, then we really should be ok.
We haven’t put one coherent display together on either side of the ball (defensively or attack wise). Tuchel’s still talking about what he wants to implement but we haven’t seen anything of worth yet. So, we are going into the unknown not knowing. It is pretty similar to Capello’s first big test in the qualifying game against Croatia away (When Walcott scored a hat-trick). Back then we had also just beat Andorra in the previous game 2-0.
The London Standard keeping up their record of bizarre predictions with this predicted line up. England predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Pickford; James, Konsa, Burn, Lewis-Skelly; J Henderson, Rice; Madueke, Rogers, Gordon; Kane
Marc Guehi managing a groin issue ahead of England’s game in Serbia. Not viewed as serious and defender not ruling himself out. Final decision on availability to come. https://t.co/JUYcS6wuJx— Sami Mokbel (@SamiMokbel_BBC) September 8, 2025 Not yet certain Guehi can play tomorrow.
Tuchel on potential changes to the England line-up: "Not too many, slight adjustments. We had an excellent camp and everyone deserves some minutes." Goes on to say that everyone is available (Alex Howell) He implies Guehi will start - will it be Konsa or Burn beside him? "I love the job" ❤️"To hopefully lead the country into the World Cup makes me proud" 🏴Safe to say, Thomas Tuchel has settled into his role 🗣️ pic.twitter.com/qn9Dc8R5Zm— ITV Football (@itvfootball) September 8, 2025
Winder what affect Nuno getting sacked will have on Gibbs-White, Anderson, Hudson-Odoi, McAtee and Hutchinson. Would be a Shame if either of the first two lost their starting places there.
Sounds like Tuchel has made Jordan Henderson a player/coach by the way he talks about him. Thomas Tuchel offers hint on Jordan Henderson's England role ahead of Serbia clash https://t.co/Jdb4IHDx3V— John Cross (@johncrossmirror) September 8, 2025 Times predicted lineup. Pickford Livramento, Guehi, Burn, James Rice, Anderson, Rogers Gordon, Kane, Madueke
He should just make him a coach. Not sure what the rules are whilst still a player but if Henderson is really there for his leadership skills then just add him to the coaching staff in some capacity so he doesn’t take up a spot in the squad and can still be there.
Liverpool will not submit a fresh cash offer for Marc Guehi in January and intend to sign the Crystal Palace defender on a free transfer next summer. (Daily Telegraph) Birmingham City, Wrexham and West Brom have emerged as favourites to sign Dele Alli. (Daily Mail)
Would Henderson want to travel as a moral support non-playing extra man? Would the other players respect fellow player who has clearly been given the message they're past it working as a 'coach' with no coaching experience? There's a lot of ego there, you might not get the desired outcome from explicitly bringing an extra guy as a mascot.
Myles Lewis-Skelly has been left out of the England squad for tonight's WCQ game with Serbia. Tino Livramento or Djed Spence the options at left back. Would be bold to debut Spence at a hostile match. Could also be James at left back with Livramento at right back knowing Tuchel. Have a feeling Shaw or Chilwelll might be back next month
What possible logic would there be to pick Chilwell (who will likely have at most 2 or 3 games under his belt for Strasbourg) and has been in the wilderness for 24 months over Lewis Hall who already got some minutes this season after injury for Newcastle and likely a couple more starts post international break?
Liam Delap expected to start training again in Nov + return to play soon after, ahead of festive schedule. No surgery for 22yo #CFC striker’s hamstring issue - recovery time approximately 10wks from when injury occurred (David Ornstein)
