The problem with Rashford and Madueke is that neither have top tier control of the ball. If we went in to a tournament with this squad we wouldn’t have a chance.
A game to forget. The sheer lack of creativity against low block sides once again worrying but such a regular feature now. In as much as you can take anything out the game Anderson at least had a decent debut. Madueke is a flawed player but has the right ideas and attitude against low block sides. Once again set up the opener, and should have had at least one more assist but for poor finishing.
Every time we seemed to put a cross in we got a chance or even a free header. But the team kept passing it back rather than crossing the ball. You’ve just got to be more direct at times against these teams. Make them think a bit because most of the half just becomes the same specific attack approach. I have no idea why Tuchel is telling Burn to be confident on the ball and bring the ball up from his position. It really is a waste of time and I do think having CB’s that struggle on the ball is a massive hindrance in games like this. I would play someone like Acheampong over Burn. The Burn experiment just doesn’t make sense at all.
It is what is it is against these type of teams, we’re just crap at creating against low block teams. Nothing will change until we learn to play quicker football and playing through the lines. I think we have the players but needs the coach to assess which players best fit the opposition and I know Rice scored but against these teams he’s pretty much redundant because he’s just not creative in attacking areas and also just not crossing quick enough which I think needs to be fixed when we play Latvia away as it will be similar.
I’m defending Madueke there.. rashford has no end product, Madueke has delivered end product in the few games he’s played, we should have scored a couple of goals from his delivery today.
I said many times here, Rashford is finished and never ever should play again for England. Play Gordon there, or Hudson-Odoi, Grealish, Hutchinson, even Foden or Madueke but him. But knowing Tuchel he will start in Belgrade too. As for Tuchel: I'm in team Fat Frank!
Adam Wharton would have been ideal for this game. His positive forward passing would have opened up this stubborn Andorra team
what do we expect against a 9 man back line? it has been the same under every England manager against these minnows. three points onto the next. these games are nothing more than a training exercise. pointless.
Agreed! I think Rashford solely got called up just because of who he plays for. I mean I defended him to a degree about one half of football he played for Barca but he’s not done anything more than CHO or Grealish.
