I think the frequency with which he loses the ball will frustrate Chelsea fans no end. I expect a lot of debate from them next season about who should start up front for them.
I agree with you that Kane's mobility (or lack of) is a big problem for England but I'm not sure Delap's that guy just yet. I think he needs to learn to combine with the players around him a bit better first. Potentially a very good player though, even if he is a bit raw.
An upgrade on 400+ career goals? Kane scored more goals in his age 21 season than Delap has in his career. He's got promise, but let's keep things real.
I'm assuming he means an upgrade at this moment in time, I disagree with that also, Delap is a few years development away from that especially his all round game. I'd like to see Delap perform at the top level and this year in the Champions League and maybe the later stage of this Cwc is a good opportunity. Kane looked a little laboured in the heat against Auckland but thats not unlike him in Pre/Post Season (I've watched almost every game he's played for the last 12 years. But if you watched games like Leverkusen and Inter in the Champions League its pretty clear he's still far and above our best Striker, but Tuchel does need to be managing him better.

https://metro.co.uk/2025/06/17/gare...-national-team-surprise-application-23435960/ Gareth Southgate has applied to become Poland’s new manager according to reports in the Polish press.
Thats one of the most random things I've ever heard. I'd have thought he'd try something like a director of football somewhere.
The last we heard, he was exploring roles outside of football. I mean, what the heck does Gareth Southgate have left to prove as an international manager? Surely the bigger challenge is to succeed at club level and really silence the doubters once and for all.

29 years ago today we beat the Dutch 4-1. I remember the game but looking back was the performance really that good? We could easily have lost

About 80% of their team just won the European Cup plus Bergkamp. Easily one of the favourites. Ajax were lauded for two years before that and Venables executed a brilliant plan. We were good and clinical.
