Bowen scores. Goal and assist for him today.

Rogers very unlucky to not have a goal there. But because the Ref has blown the whistle VAR can’t intervene I believe. Might be an error where the rules of what VAR can and cannot check needs changing.

Next season is going to be massive for Palmer. It's not an exaggeration to say he's had one good game since Christmas and that was against a Liverpool side that had spent all week celebrating after winning the league.

He obviously doesn't suit the way Maresca sets Chelsea up and I think that's probably affected his confidence and compounded that issue, but he's going to have to find a way to adapt because Maresca ain't leaving any time soon. He'll probably never hit his top form playing in this system but equally, he should still be able to impact games a lot more than he is doing.

There should be a good number of English players in the champions league next season

Part of his problem is I just don't think he's particularly suited to playing centrally, he's better off the right where its less congested, and he can cut inside to shoot. You can also get away with drifting in and out games a lot more out wide if you have goal contributions, centrally his lack of work rate is much more glaring (particularly given Fernandez is usually behind him who tends to struggle defensively also).

From a England perspective its very pleasing how Colwill has ended the season for Chelsea, he's really begun to look like the centre back he's got the potential to be. He's gotten a lot of flack this season, though a lot of it has seemed unfair to me given his ever rotating centre back partners, and for what was a large part of the season a midfield that offered really poor protection. I don't think too many centre backs would have looked consistently great in that set up. It'd be huge for England if Colwill could really go from strength to strength next year.

If Chelsea are to go to the next level they need to make a choice between Enzo and Palmer. Enzo is a 10 playing at 8. They need a real 8 and sell Enzo or play Enzo at 10 and sell Palmer. If it was me I'd sell Enzo. But who's going to pay 100m for Enzo?

Be interesting to see how much playing time Tuchel gives Colwill next month. He didn’t get on the pitch in March but there is no Guehi this time.

I think Trent will regret moving to Real Madrid. He'll just be another player there. Where as he'd be a legend at Liverpool.

Yeah Madrid fans are not as forgiving if you have a bad run of form. Look at Bellingham, some say they’ve had enough of him, even though he carried them last season.

never understood the pull of real. They chew you up and spit you out

He previously said his number one career goal is winning the ballon d'or, the boost players reputations get from playing Madrid is far more than any other club offers. I mean, he obviously won't win the ballon d'or but if that is your driving goal then Madrid is certainly the club that makes sense.

If he won it at Real Madrid he would have half the dressing room angry it wasn’t them.

Agree with all of that. I've not seen anything from Palmer to suggest that he's a 10. He has the same issues as Foden in that he struggles to find space between the lines in a structured system and generally suits a more chaotic game state than a controlled one.

I think him making his mark under Pochettino was simultaneously the best and worst thing that could've happened. Good because it allowed him to show everyone what he's capable of in ideal conditions but bad because the conditions he did it in are basically irreplicable in this league. Very few Premier League managers at top clubs would allow him to play the role Pochettino gave him so the early part of his career was almost destined for an early peak. I'd imagine that's hard to navigate mentally.

Colwill is definitely a huge positive though. Tough first half of the season but he's been their best player in this last stretch.

The Spursy thing would have been to lose the final and then win 4-1 in a game that didn't matter.

Newcastle United decide against taking up option to extend Callum Wilson contract but enter negotiations over new deal that would be slightly more incentive-based. 33yo striker to decide whether he wants to stay at #NUFC or move elsewhere @TheAthleticFC

The final end of season 'stats' are out for the 2024/25 Premier League Season, and England players feature pretty heavily:

Dan Burn unsurprisingly won more aerial duels than anyone else (148)

Cole Palmer had the 2nd most shots at goal (126), big chances created (24) and expected assists (10.8)

Only Bruno Guimaraes won more duels than Elliott Anderson (242)

Only Mark Flekken made more saves than Aaron Ramsdale (125)

Jordan Pickford (12) and Dean Henderson (11) were 3rd and 4th when it came to clean sheets

Jarrad Branthwaite made the 2nd most last man tackles (4)

Aaron Wan-Bissaka (is he still English?) was no.1 for interceptions (66)

and a surprising one to end on... James Tarkowski played more accurate long passes (128) than Trent Alexander-Arnold (126).
