Yeah totally agree and if they do end up winning obviously I will be disappointed but actually really happy for them and their fans.
Hope Guehi and Wharton are ok. I think Oliver Glasner will be added to the list of possible Tuchel successors after that. Don’t think Pep Guardiola will be sending a Christmas card to Dean Henderson.
Congratulations to our players at @CPFC on their #EmiratesFACup victory at @WembleyStadium! 🙌 https://t.co/xwPaDwHCOu— England (@England) May 17, 2025
He clearly wasn’t that fit though to be fair and even Glasner said as much apparently. You could see he wasn’t moving fluently throughout the game but when he had the ball he was good.
City spent £200m in January on what? An arm and a leg spent in the last few years and they're still relying on De Bruyne for pieces of magic. Utterly abysmal recruitment.
I think Wharton should stick with Palace one more season. He gets to play regularly next season in the Europa league. He's clearly going to develop better playing regularly
All of that plus Palace certainly knew they had to hit them on the counter so not really the game for his passing and controlling of the game to shine. But he initiated one good counter attack with a measured direct pass if I renember correctly.
Having watched City extensively this season, and having watched Barca and PSG many a time too, I think City fans are in for a rude awakening if they think this is just a personnel issue. It’s an ideological one. They have the balance between patience/control and risk/directness completely off. One of the biggest differences and examples of the difference between those two teams and City is attacking transitions. Look how deadly PSG were against Villa, Liverpool and Arsenal from them and compare that to City today on the occasions where they had those opportunities. They would just repeatedly feed the ball out wide, play it back infield and start recycling the ball over and over again. By contrast, PSG scored two goals from it against Villa in the second leg and should’ve had more against Arsenal, Barca have scored countless goals from those situations as well. It’s only one part of the game, but it epitomises the difference in philosophy and is one of the reasons why, unless he changes sharply and quickly, I think Pep is done at the very top level regardless of what players City get in.
As a City fan obviously disappointed but hey it’s not the end of the World and yeah it was a red card imo but still it’s so hard to not be happy for Palace and for Henderson. For someone that just lost his dad it’s hard not to be made up for him. Also for them to win their first trophy, I mean it’s hard not to like it to be honest.

Newcastle win there first Trophy in years. Kane wins his first Trophy ever and now Palace win there first Trophy.A good year for the underdogs.
Henderson was outstanding. Like.. wow. Wharton playing not fit was really good, Mateta is criminally underrated by loads. Munoz was a workhorse. Mitchell for the most part locked down Man City. I'm just so happy for Palace in general. Smaller clubs struggle for any top flight silverware so this is amazing.
Henderson has elite mentality. Shithousery, big game mentality, shot stopping under pressure. That was a top top performance and he looked comfortable under pressure.
Wonder when the last time was that we had so many players winning trophies in a season. Feels like a lot. Especially if Chelsea win the Conference League. Seems like a positive.
I think the opposite. Way too emotional and gets involved in nonsense. Not ideal in the long run. Similar to most of our goalkeepers you want them to have a few high quality seasons with no issues. Seems at times that bar is too high for them.
