Ajax and Jordan Henderson suffer the mother of all chokes as they concede 99th-minute equaliser to let Dutch title slip out of their grasp - having needed just six points from final five games https://t.co/rAM63Qznta— Mail Sport (@MailSport) May 14, 2025 Ajax have lost their lead. Henderson might not become one of very few English players to captain a side abroad to a trophy.
Newcastle have moved ahead of Chelsea in the race to sign English defender Marc Guehi, 24, from Crystal Palace. (Teamtalk, external) Liverpool will not accept an £850,000 fee from Real Madrid to allow defender Trent Alexander-Arnold, 26, to make an early move to the Spanish club. (Sun, external) Real Madrid have asked Liverpool to release Trent Alexander-Arnold for free so he can play in the group stages of the Club World Cup. (The Telegraph) Real Madrid have approached Liverpool to try and secure Trent Alexander-Arnold's early release - but they are unwilling to offer the Reds a transfer fee for the outgoing England star and want them to release him for free. (Daily Mirror) Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White has been banned from driving for six months after admitting to speeding six times. (Daily Mail) Cole Palmer admitted to throwing up in a swimming pool on holiday during a bizarre quiz. (The Sun)
Looks like Kyle Walker is not going to be signed by AC Milan permanently. Wonder if he will now go to Saudi - Tuchel seems open to picking players playing there so it might not affect his chances.
He's been a good servant to England over the years but a player who's not considered good enough for this car crash of a Milan side should not be getting in the current England squad. The harsh truth is that he should've lost his place prior to Euro 2024; he's only taking minutes off better players now.
Tuchel seems to favour his experience but surely they are limits to that. Henderson doesn’t have quite so much tough competition for his spot.
Seeing as real madrid are looking to sign young players like hujison I wouldn't be surprised if they went for Wharton in the summer
https://www.premierleague.com/news/4309067 Declan Rice and Morgan Gibbs-White nominated for PL player of the season. Gibbs-White is a surprise - not often someone who is only got called up last time as an injury replacement and might not be in the next squad makes if. https://www.premierleague.com/awards/manager-of-the-season/2024-25 Eddie Howe nominated for Manager of the Year. https://www.premierleague.com/awards/young-player-of-the-season/2024-25 Cole Palmer. Morgan Rogers and Liam Delap nominated for Young Player of the Season
They really need to sort this out, it makes a mockery of it. He's been one of the best defenders in the league for three straight seasons, he's hardly a prospect. Same with Foden's nomination last season. It needs to just be U21 players or if they really want to include 22, 23 & 24-year-olds, they should change it to rookie of the year, where anyone who's started over a certain number of games (15, for example) prior to the start of the season is excluded. I don't even care about individual awards in general but this really irks me for some reason.
I'd split it out: Young Player of the Year- aged 21 or younger on the opening day Newcomer of the Year - has not played more than x number of games in a top flight division in any country. No age restriction. Same here. A 24 year old with 28 caps (for a top nation) and almost 250 club games under his belt cannot be considered a young player - he's in his prime.

Now that it’s fully done and dusted, hopefully Real finally send Bellingham off to surgery and let him put his feet up for a few months. Absolutely no need for him to play any more football this season.
A little matter of the Club World Cup might delay it. If he misses the summer matches then it’s inevitable we going to get Henderson starting against Andorra or Senegal.
Reece James. Fit again, but is he now a midfielder, and if so, where does he fit? And how does that all play out with England and Thomas Tuchel, the coach who saw him thrive as a wing back? A conundrum:https://t.co/tFc5LChRg6— Peter Rutzler (@peterrutzler) May 15, 2025
Veteran English forward Jamie Vardy will leave Leicester City this summer but the 38-year-old has no intention to retire and believes he could still play in the Premier League. (Sky Sports) Marcus Rashford can leave Manchester United for £40million this summer, but Aston Villa do not have first option on the England star. (Daily Mail)
🦁 @_DeclanRice🦁 @Morgangibbs27Congratulations on your @PremierLeague player of the season award nominations! https://t.co/bSgjdJPxkg— England (@England) May 16, 2025
"Across the last eight seasons, only three defenders have played 20+ games in a Premier League season and not been dribbled past once: ◉ Virgil van Dijk (2018/19) ◉ David Luiz (2020/21) ◉ Myles Lewis-Skelly (2024/25)" [Squawka] And they still couldn't find a place for him in the PL Young Player of the Year nominations.
AC Milan will send Tammy Abraham back to Roma this summer. He is not part of Milan's or Roma's plans for next season. (Source: @NicoSchira)
Konsa, Rogers and Watkins start for Aston Villa. Mings and Barkley are on the bench. Spence, Gray and Moore start for Spurs. Olusesi and Solanke are on the bench. Adarabioyo, Colwill, James, Madueke, Palmer and George start for Chelsea. Bettinelli, Chalobah, Acheampong and Dewsbury-Hall are on the bench. Maguire, Shaw and Mount start for Manchester United. Heaven, Amass, Fredricson, Mainoo and Collyer are on the bench.
With the criteria as they stand he’s a bit of a distance from being in the running, but like what was said further up they need to sort those rules out, he'd be a frontrunner then.
Offsides were not introduced for decisions like that, it's ridiculous, they need to be reworked one way or another.
The rule for that is already that if it’s obovus the flag should go up. It’s just what is obvious. It be harder to write it any different without linespeople then putting it up on things that then turn out on replays are not offside,
