Forster should retire after that. He was standing up when the ball was still 4 yards from crossing the line
Jude Bellingham makes the six-strong shortlist for BBC Sports Personality of the Year award. Kind of spoils his bizarre narrative of being made the scapegoat for England's flat performances and the beacon for unprecedented press criticism and fan hatred. Thats right, Kane, Foden, Trippier and Rice never got a mention eh, Jude?
And he will probably come in the top 3 with Luke Littler and Keely Hodgkinson (One of the later two will win I think - bookies say Hodgkinson but feeling says Littler.)
That said, the ironic thing about Littler's inclusion is that Luke Humphreys is the number 1 darts player at the moment and has been fairly dominant this year but no cares.
Humpreys is the outstanding player in darts at the moment, but the BBC award has always been as much a popularity contests as for achievement. I doubt most general sports fans could pick Humphrey's out of a crowd, and a good chunk won't even know his name. But most will have heard of Littler and recognise him.
Liverpool are looking to tie England right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold, 26 to a new deal. (Star), external Everton will cash in on Dominic Calvert-Lewin next month if the right offer comes in - and £20m could get him, with Everton determined not to lose the striker for nothing (The Sun) Man City were planning to send Argentine ace Claudio Echeverri on loan to Spanish sister club Girona when he finally arrives from River Plate in January. But the fitness problems faced by Kevin De Bruyne, Phil Foden and Jack Grealish this season have promoted the Premier League champions into a rethink. (Daily Mirror)
Everyone to their own but I've really never understood the darts thing. I think sports that don't display levels of athleticism that are beyond what the average person is capable of (as well as skill) are usually a far worse spectacle. Given we're a country with a growing obesity crisis it'd also be a lot more helpful if people preferred a more physically rigorous sport but it is what it is.
You are probably right but I think Luke Littler will probably win because he's put Darts on the map more. But I think Hodgkinson should win. In fact I think she should be a much bigger star than she is.If she was around between 90s to 2012 she would be a household name. For some reason athletics popularly has been going down for years.
BBC Sports Personality is a nothing award really, but I'm not a fan of darts players being grouped in with other athletes for any sort of award. Athletes of proper sports endure a tonne of suffering and physical sacrifice to get to the top of their sport in a way darts players just don't. They don't even have to give up their favourite foods. I'm also not massively shocked at athletics popularity declining. They're not the sorts of sports that have enough entertainment factor to be popular with the masses all year rounds so they need those transcend figures to carry their popularity, people like Bolt. It seems like the sort of thing that's destined to perpetually yo-yo in popularity.
