Manchester United are planning a fresh bid for Everton's 22-year-old England defender Jarrad Branthwaite after learning their new signing Leny Yoro is unlikely to play again this year. (Sun)

Juventus are examining the feasibility of signing England winger Raheem Sterling from Chelsea but realise they will face competition from other Premier League clubs for the 29-year-old. (Gianluca di Marzio - in Italian)

Crystal Palace have rejected a second bid, believed to be worth about £50m, from Newcastle United for centre-back Marc Guehi, 24, as talks continue between the two clubs. (Sky Sports)

Liverpool will benefit from the £65m deal that will see Dominic Solanke move to Tottenham as they are due a 20 per cent cut of any profit Bournemouth make from the sale. (Daily Mirror)

Tammy Abraham is expected to be among the names Bournemouth consider in their quest to replace Tottenham-bound Dominic Solanke. (Daily Mirror)

So mad that guehi is worth 65 million but arsenal signed a player at least as good for much less

the wealth of premier league mid table clubs is obscene

I personally would like to see the palace players all stay one more year as they have a really strong squad imo

Delighted to see Solanke secure his move, he really has all the profile to provide genuine starting competition to Kane. Spurs is a good move for any attacker under Postecoglou.

Between him, Watkins, and Toney it does show the benefit to spending a few years in the championship to establish yourself. Can't help but think it helps the development of a striker to be learning the role in the championship rather than the thankless task of either riding a premier league bench or being at the bottom end and getting no service.

Livramento seems to be suffering with injury issues again. Certainly agree its time to move on from Trippier and Walker, both of whom have clearly declined already and are very unlikely to be at the level required in two more seasons. Walker was a disaster pretty much the entire tournament.

James is suspended for the start of Chelsea’s season so surely he should be fit. He hasn’t lookedgood in pre season through.

Shaw doesn’t seem fully fit so Left back might be an issue again because Chilwell might have few minutes in the tank as well.

    Community shield
Maguire, Mount, Rashford and Mainoo start for Manchester United, Collyer and Sancho are on the bench.

Lewis, O’Riley and McAtee start for Manchester City. Carson and Phillips are on the bench

Happy to see those City with 3 academy players in the starting line up. Good chance for them to showcase themselves. I suppose Lewis would also have a pretty strong chance of making an England squad if he can get himself some gametime at the start of this season.

So who is being picked for left back, if Shaw is injured again? I have not seen Leif Davis play but presumably he is the one to watch? Maresca doesn't play with conventional full backs so Chilwell may struggle for minutes. Mitchell is a decent choice. Will Lewis Hall get minutes now at Newcastle? I think Rico is only just back from an ACL so maybe a bit soon.

Lewis Hall has started most games for Newcastle in preseason and looks set to be first choice there. I'd bet on him being in the squad pretty soon. There aren't many left-backs his age better than him, if any at all.

City controlling the game. McAtee has hit the post. O'Reilly has looked a bit out of his depth. Mount has barely touched the ball, most of United's players haven't in fairness.

I had to say but my prediction is that this time next year Mount will be Turkey or Saudi I suspect,

Rico Henry is not able to play a full 90 mins yet it seems so way too early for him.

Davis is apparently good but views are mixed on if he will handle the PL well.

‘Lee Carsley, set to take charge of England on an interim basis for the upcoming Nations League matches against Republic of Ireland and Finland in September, is among those at Wembley.

He will be playing a close attention to Marcus Rashford, Mason Mount, Harry Maguire and Rico Lewis.’

He did well in that move that nearly resulted in a goal. The problem is that at United Bruno occupies the positions that he favours so he'll be unlikely to really showcase himself.

It was a bad move for him - semingly motivated by the wages and financial lure. Most other clubs would have been better,

Arsenal would've been such a good fit.

I don't think that was his motivation at all. Him and his Dad are United fans. You could see in the videos him signing how chuffed they were about. It caused some grumbling among Chelsea fans.

No idea why he turned them down and missed out on reuniting with Rice.

If I was England manager I would never count of him being fit.

Yeah, u just can’t rely on these players to be fit anymore

Walker is washed up, get Ben white back in, he knows Saka and can play inverted or overlap

It be interesting to see if White returns immediately. He might do so but but as Carsley is interim I’m not as certain than if it was a permanent manager making the decision.
