I'd be surprised if Carsley makes too many changes initially. Gordon, Palmer and Colwill are all likely to get game time, as the pick of his Euro U21 winning team, and Elliott has certainly been the stand-out player in the U21 games since. But other than that, I think we'll have to wait a little while longer to see that sublime Curtis Jones/Angel Gomes double-pivot deployed again. He'll probably just want to concentrate on working with the current squad first and start implementing his thoughts and ideas.
I think Walker and Trippier will be gone. Maybe Bowen as well. Gallagher also seems at risk due stylistic clashes. Will he bring White back or will that have to wait.

They both 34. It be a changing of the guard. James, TAA, Livramento, Hall and others can fill their gap.
Whether or not they want to retire they just shouldn't be picked anymore imo. Focus on Trent, James and Livramento now. Trippier and Walker have had their time.
The style of play he implemented with the U21s is very dependent on having at least one top-class first receiver. His main guys for that have been Gomes, Hackney and more recently Morton, so atm Gomes is probably the only one with a chance of a call-up anytime soon but the likes of Hackney and Morton are probably only a successful move to a top-five European league away from working their way into firm contention. If he wants to play in a similar manner you'd imagine he'll be all over Wharton as a starter because of the current senior midfielders he's the best at that job. Will be interesting to see what he does with Rice too.
Feels to me like they want to give it to Carsley and are now hoping the games go well. Then appointing him full time will be so much easier.
As a big fan of Walker and appreciate what he has done for England over the years but I agree with this, both Kyle and Tripps are very unlikely to get better going into there mid 30’s so now is time to get the new right backs playing and being able to gel with the rest of the team. Maybe Walker might be picked initially as a squad player helping with his experience but long term I think he will be phased out. I certainly think Trippier will be gone though.
Imaigne if he drops Rice from the starting line up. That would be a Big shock, Would he do that as interim?
Happy to see Carsley given the role, even on an interim basis (which really has the feeling more of him being trialled for the job). I think he's the best man for the job. Some doubts about him but no more than others, and Southgate's time in the under 21's was a very accurate picture of the manager he was for the senior side, good things and bad things. Still, I think people should calibrate expectations. The England team has been putting in disjointed performances and underwhelming attacking performances for almost all the last year, I don't think it'll be fair to expect Carsley to come in and turn things around instantly, minor improvements would be fine against what is surely going to be two very defensive opponents. I also wouldn't particularly expect huge changes squad wise, I would expect him to keep things not to dissimilar to what we have. Maybe if Elliott has a good start to the season he might break in but I wouldn't expect much in the way with new names necessarily.
I doubt he will drop him but more likely play him as an 8 maybe. Like others have said Carsley likes his deep lying midfielder to be comfortable on the ball and unfortunately for Rice, that’s not really something he’s comfortable with unless he works really hard at it. You have to presume Bellingham will keep the attacking midfield slot but it might mean a bit of reorganising behind him unless he plays Mainoo deeper but I don’t know…..
The Telegraph say the bookies have Carsley as favourite to get the job full time. And that his staff will be announced next week with Ashely Cole expected to be his assistant And that the other bookie contenders are Potter, Howe, Pochettino and Lampard. The FA are saying the executives being on holiday has delayed the search.
Yeah, they've been good servants to us but it's important to recognise when to call it a day and not draw it out too long.
Walker has tired to retire twice before and been talked out it he will surely do so now. Trippier through said he in an interview he doesn’t see himself ever making an international retirement announcement
rice plays as an 8 for Arsenal and looked much better play him as an 8 with Bellingham and a single pivot
