Some people think he'll be a squad player. No way will they pay that sort of money to be a squad player

🚨 Bournemouth have agreed to sell Dominic Solanke for a club-record fee & talks with Tottenham Hotspur continue to finalise transfer. Personal terms in place & 26yo striker desperate to complete move from #AFCB to #THFC @TheAthleticFC after @DuncanCastles https://t.co/EzdxOp9C2Z— David Ornstein (@David_Ornstein) August 9, 2024 Looks like it's so long Solanke then. Could be great news England, if Harry Kane's powers really are declining.
It should be but in international football is moving away from needing a good striker to succeed so even if this move doesn’t fully work out we can cope without a striker.

I mean if he does get the move but it doesn’t really work out particularly well in terms of his performances for Spurs.
If a team has a gun striker they play, the only teams that move away from needing a good striker are those that don't have them in the first place.
Why instantly presume he's going to fail though? Solanke deserves immense praise for the manner in which he's clawed his way back and re-established himself after failing to hit the mark at Liverpool. He's older, wiser and a much more complete forward, and there's no reason at all why he shouldn't be a huge hit for Spurs. And England!!
That second tier of striker basically always reaches their level later than players in other positions. England has a pretty consistent conveyor belt of very competent 28 year old+ strikers. Solanke is ahead of the curve slightly, if anything.
Lee Carsley has been appointed interim head coach of the #ThreeLions ahead of the start of our #NationsLeague campaign.— England (@England) August 9, 2024 And so a new era begins. Don't tell me that the FA aren't secretly hoping Carsley 'does a Southgate', excels as the interim manager and makes their selection process so much easier.
Don't hate it at all. Think there's plenty of reason to be optimistic about Carsley personally and the fact we get to have a quick look at how the team looks under him is a huge bonus. Very much looking forward to these games next month.
Possibly. Might depend on how Eilliot does for Liverpool. If he is not used much it would look odd if he then get called up.
It’s obvious they either hoping he will or waiting for Howe to get sacked from Newcastle. If they really wanted Potter they could have got him now.
