‘Carsley has a host of injury problems to contend with Arsenal’s Declan Rice is a doubt with a foot injury, Jack Grealish and John Stones have missed recent matches for Manchester City, while Cole Palmer has been unable to train with Chelsea.

Harry Maguire, Kobbie Mainoo and Luke Shaw remain unavailable for Manchester United, while Crystal Palace pair Eberechi Eze and Adam Wharton are also injured. Could that mean a recall for the likes of Jarrod Bowen, Marcus Rashford and James Maddison?

One player, who is set to be included is Dominic Solanke.

The Tottenham striker was called up to the October camp and on Sunday, scored a brace in the Spurs’ 4-1 win over Aston Villa.’

Aston Villa forward Morgan Rogers is not in the latest England squad named by Lee Carsley.
Rogers has been in excellent form for Villa this season and has got three goals and three assists in 14 appearances in all competitions.
There had been calls for Rogers to be included this time but he is set to be named in the U21s for this international break.

In the Futsal Hall at St George's Park awaiting the final squad announcement by Lee Carsley as England manager.

Media turnout is low, probably due to CL and a busy weekend of fixtures.

But I'm expecting compelling quotes from the man who was almost king.... 1 or 2 about Tuchel

Why is Walker still there instead of Livramento?

Also why is Grealish there having been out for weeks? Do we really need players being rushed back.

Good for him. I still don't think he should be playing for England.

    Show Spoiler

Right, let's hear from Lee Carsley.

England's interim head coach is talking to the media right now, starting with his reasons for including new faces Lewis Hall and Taylor Harwood-Bellis.

He says it is a good challenge for Hall to stake a claim as England's regular left-back.

Carsley added that incoming manager Thomas Tuchel has not had any influence over his squad selection.

Curtis will be one of the best players I've worked with in terms of ability. He's playing most weeks at a high level. He's shown he can score goals and assists. We've had a lot of success with him in the past.

England interim head coach Lee Carsley confirmed that his role would now be back with the Under-21s.

But he said that believes he is now better placed to understand the standard his young players will need to reach to progress, having worked with the senior side over three international windows.

England interim head coach Lee Carsley on Lewis Hall and Taylor Hardwood-Bellis:

"Both players who have played a lot of minutes this season, showed they can play at a high level. I know them both really well.

"Taylor is a player who really deserves it, he's a brilliant captain. Lewis has taken his time to settle in but has shown he can be consistent. He's got a great left foot. It's a good challenge to see if he can maintain that squad."

England interim head coach Lee Carsley on his future:

"I've really enjoyed it. It's a massive honour to have the trust of the FA. I think we've shown we're capable of doing it. My priority is making sure I do a good job every day and not look too far ahead. A positive would be getting two good results and going out on a high."

England interim head coach Lee Carsley on Curtis Jones:

"Curtis is an all-round player, plays in various positions. He is a player I highly rate, he's one of the best I've worked with in terms of ability. He is showing consistency at a high level now. He can score goals, assist and is player we've had a lot of success with in the past."

England interim head coach Lee Carsley on picking the squad:

"I found a real big challenge of this job is to pick the squad. There are four or five players that can be disappointed they didn't make this squad because they are having good seasons.

"We know a lot of the squad are managing injuries. Hopefully, we get a full set and pick the strongest team we can."

We know a lot of the squad are carrying injuries." Lee Carsley on his 26-man squad. Players "managing" injuries so can play but obviously not 100%. Not uncommon but still worrying and highlights @PFA @FIFPRO concern about player workload. #ENG Henry Winter.

    He has.

Of course it is one who doesn’t actually want to be left back long term.

Dropping Pope means our goal keepers are 16th, 17th and 19th in the table and don’t have many clean sheets. Two of the four centre backs come from these teams as well.

‘Declan Rice is preparing to push through the pain barrier and try to play for Arsenal and England after breaking his toe.

Rice missed Arsenal’s Champions League trip to Inter Milanwith the broken toe he suffered in the defeat by Newcastle United last weekend.

But the midfielder has been included in Lee Carsley’s England squad for the forthcoming Nations League internationals against Greece and Republic of Ireland.

Rice has been unable to train this week and could not put a boot on the foot of his injured toe. The midfielder, however, is ready to try to play through the pain barrier for Arsenal against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

And should he come through that Chelsea game unscathed, Rice is also ready to play with pain for England as they attempt to beat Greece and move to the top of the Nations League Group B table.

Interim manager Carsley will be desperate to have Rice available for the Greece and Ireland game, given he will be without first-choice defenders John Stones and Harry Maguire.

With Kobbie Mainoo also out injured, Carlsey is light on defensive midfield options and Rice’s inclusion against Greece in Athens will be vital.

England must beat Greece to stand any chance of topping their Nations League group and avoiding an unwanted play-off.’

Wonder what the odds of next Monday we hearing he has withdrawn from the squad through (And with 26 no need to replace him.)

I don't really see him ending up in midfield at this point, he's far more valuable to teams as a left back than he is trying to move him back to midfield. Not exactly uncommon for academy midfielders to end up as full backs for senior football.

Is this a recent quote from Hall, about him not wanting to play LB long term? He's barely not played LB since his Pro debut, seems incredibly likely that's going to change.

Harwood-Bellis is an odd one for me. Needs to be doing a lot more at the highest level to be making this squad. Would worry if he started a game.
