Mason Mount has returned to full training at Manchester United following his latest injury lay-off. (Daily Mail) Chelsea hope Cole Palmer will be passed fit to face Arsenal in their upcoming Premier League showdown, though face an anxious wait to see what damage was done at Old Trafford on Sunday. (Daily Mail)
Carsley has some fitness issues surrounding John Stones, Kobbie Mainoo and Jack Grealish, who have all missed games through injury since the last England games, before naming his squad for the Greece and Ireland games. Reece James has returned to the Chelsea team and started the club’s last three Premier League games, playing as a left-back against Newcastle United and Manchester United. That could be an intriguing prospect to Carsley, who is short of left-back options, but it is not clear whether or not James will be considered for selection so soon after his return from injury. Lewis Hall has also performed well recently for Newcastle United and could be another left-back option. The anticipated absence of Grealish, who has two goals in three games under Carsley, may free up an attacking position for either Jarrod Bowen to win an England recall or Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers to be rewarded with a first senior call-up. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/footbal...-will-not-help-pick-england-team-lee-carsley/ https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/f...-squad-selection-November-Nations-League.html https://www.thetimes.com/sport/football/article/thomas-tuchel-lee-carsley-england-squad-tnpzdh3jp
Declan Rice is now an injury doubt for the squad. Suspect he will be called up but then withdraw even if he plays against Chelsea .
I wouldn't mind seeing how our midfield gets on without Rice. He's to good to drop even though our midfield hasn't worked for about 2 or 3 years. Get some flesh blood in there and see how they get on.
Think there's a chance we might see a Jones/Gomes/Bellingham midfield for the Greece game. With Mainoo and Wharton out injured we don't have many more options. Could see Gallagher too though because we were awful in our duels in that game at Wembley.
Would be a big debut for Jones in a must win match. I am not sure Gallagher will be in the squad unless Rice is confirmed out.
Gomes starts for Lille Alexander - Arnold and Jones start for Liverpool. Davies, Quansah, Morton and Gomez are on the bench. Edwards is on the bench for Sporting. Tomori starts for AC Milan. Abraham and Loftus - Cheek are on the bench.
‘Arteta confirms: “Declan Rice picked up an injury. We’ll have to assess him on Thursday and see if he’s ready for Chelsea”.’
