Should but very rarely is. The player very likely also thought he could compete for a PL starting role too. One of those moves that both sides probably got wrong but again it’s pretty risk averse for the club.
Steele starts for Brighton. Welbeck and Hinshelwood on the bench. Gomez. Quansah. Jones and Morton start for Liverpool. Nyoni and Young on the bench. Mings and Philogene start for Aston Villa. Jimoh - Aloba, Ramsey, Young and Patterson are on the bench. Chalobah, Guehi, Mitchell, Hughes, Eze, Wharton and Nketiah start for Palace. Kporha, Clyne, Agbinone and Henderson on the bench. Rashford starts for Man United. Fitzgerald, Heaton, Fletcher, Amass and Wheatley are on the bench. Coady, Justin, Thomas and Skipp start for Leicester. Winks, Mavididi and Alves are on the bench. Pope, Kelly, Hall, Willock, Longstaff and Gordon start for Newcastle. Barnes, Burn, Livramento and Miley on the bench. Adarabioyo and Drewsbury - Hall start for Chelsea. Bettinelli, Chilwell, Chukwuemeka, Palmer. Madueke and Colwill are on the bench. Woodman, Whatmough, Kesler - Hayden, Ledson, Greenwood and Bowler start for Preston. Whiteman, Storey, Stewart, Potts and Best are on the bench. Setford, Nwaneri and Sterling start for Arsenal. Rice, Heaven, Nichols, Saka and Lewis - Skelly are on the bench. I wonder what the chances Trent pulls out Greece and Ireland matches to rest his chronic injury?
Gray and Solanke start for Spurs. Forster, Moore and Maddison are on the bench. Stones, Lewis, Foden, McActee and O’Reilly start for Man City. Simpson - Pusey and Wright on the bench,
Now Wharton off injured as well it seems. I mean I hope it was worth the gamble from Glasner to keep playing him…..
With the amount of games that Saka plays, I can’t think of a valid logic reason as why Arteta has to bring him on in the 60th minute when your side is winning 3-0 against Preston. Surely just better to rest him? I mean we keep hearing about players playing too much etc.
He'll come up with some crap about him needing to regain sharpness after missing a couple of games through injury, despite him being the best player on the pitch against Liverpool immediately after coming back. He's utterly careless is Arteta.
Trevoh Chalobah looks to be settling into the Palace XI now. Getting quite a few plaudits for his last two performances. I fancy that he'll be in this squad in the near future and competing for starting spot somewhere down the line. Will be a big asset to us in a position we probably need a bit more depth in.
Just glad it wasn’t an England manager doing the exact same thing if 3-0 up against an average team otherwise we would never hear the end of it from their fans.
🔵⚠️ Pep Guardiola: "Kyle Walker, Kevin De Bruyne and Jack Grealish are unlikely to return before the international break".Tests will follow for Savinho to understand more about his injury, Pep says via @City_Xtra. pic.twitter.com/Mx6tcPIrvR— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) October 31, 2024 Be interesting to see who replaces Grealish in the squad. Livramento will keep his palce instead of Walker. Have to hope Trent doesn’t pull out to rest or it’s Lewis starting against Greece.
Erik ten Hag considered signing former Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck, now 33, from Brighton during his tenure as the Red Devils' manager. (The Athletic - subscription required) Real Madrid will consider a move for Tottenham's Spanish full-back Pedro Porro, 25, if they cannot complete a move for England and Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold. We don’t need this repeated continuously until the squad announcement though do we? You’ve already done it twice in a matter of hours.
Tbf I wouldn't be bringing his name up in discussions for the England senior team if I didn't expect him to hold down a starting spot at Crystal Palace.
It depends who the manager is of Palace by then. Galsner has had a good week and could easily survive till then but football is flickle. Chalobah is better in a back 3 than back 2. Will be interesting to see how a Tuchel back three goes down. Could easily see a lot of people happy with his appointment turn on him for boring matches quite quickly.
He's equally good in a back three and a back four. The fact he's a loan player without a purchase clause would probably work against him in that scenario but there's no point in entertaining Glasner getting sacked unless you think it's likely, which I don't think there's cause to believe - even if it's possible.
It seemed reasonably likely until this week after their poor run of form and lots of speculation about possible replacements. But this week gives him a while longer at least.

‘Oliver Glasner... on Eberechi Eze. 'He's injured. He has a hamstring injury, and we will miss him for at least against Wolves and against Fulham. Then we have the international break, and then let’s see, but he will be out for those two games. There is hope [he will return after that], but it will be very ambitious to have him back after the international break. I know we have a great medical department, and he will work hard, so let’s see.' ‘
