Grealish is far better left winger for England than foden

I think we quite desperately need a top left winger. Someone with some pace and 1v1 ability. Foden should never play out on the wing but I don't think Grealish is ideal in that role either.

I think in the near term our best bet is probably hoping Rashford rediscovers his form. Equally someone like Philogene taking a big leap but he's got a way to go.

More realistically we might have to wait and hope someone along the lines of Moore, Ndala or Tyrique George becomes an international standard player.

We speak about a lack of left-backs and a lack of 6s a lot but our pool of left wingers isn't great either imo.

I'd be looking to bring Sancho back into the fold, I know he's not blessed with extreme pace, but in terms of dribbling and 1v1 take on ability you aren't going to find any better, when his confidence is restored. He also seemed to have a good playing relationship with Kane, if my memory from caps back in 2019-21 aren't to foggy.

Yeah good shout actually. In those games against stubborn defences he'd be very useful.

I've really enjoyed seeing Grealish play in a more central position under Lee Carsley. Say what you like about his end product, but that ability to retain the ball and draw players to him is gold dust at international level, and something we badly missed at the Euros. And certainly against Greece.

This is a fair point but when you've got Bellingham, Kane and Palmer in the same attack it becomes too compact You need at least a Gordon, Watkins or Madueke to stretch the play. It's one of the issues that the side had in the Euros but solving the problem means a couple of big names on the bench. This looks to be the big issue that we'll have going forward.

I wouldn't have Bellingham, Kane and Palmer in the same attack right now though, based on the performances we've seen from them under Carsley. As you say, the Ireland and Finland (home) games showed the benefit of having natural wide men who can hug the touchline and also make surging runs inside beyond the last defender. Which is why I'd like to see more of Grealish playing the number 10 role where he's really caught the eye, in contrast with the muted displays of Palmer, Foden and Bellingham.

I think Grealish being at Man City is a problem for England. - it means he is at a higher risk of doing little for periods at club level which then makes him getting a big role for England look more unjustified.

Manchester United have been closely monitoring Crystal Palace winger Eberechi Eze, 26, with the club's scouting department keeping tabs on the England international throughout last season. (Football Transfers), external

Chelsea and England defender Ben Chilwell is being linked with a move to Napoli but Premier League sides Fulham, Crystal Palace and Ipswich are also interested in the 27-year-old. (Sun)

Dean Henderson hired a private jet to fly his family to Finland after discovering that he would be starting England's Nations League match in Helsinki on Sunday. (The Times)

That’s a good reason to miss a match.

Doing little in terms of goals and assists? In my opinion he’s been pretty solid in most games and often plays well but just because he’s maybe low on assists and goals it means he doesn’t play well.

He is doing well at the moment but he has periods where he wasn’t - the end of last season for example. Guardiola loves rotating until about March then he gets a first choice for the rest of the season and if you not in that you don’t get many minutes.

I see quite a lot of Lewis Cook for England shouts, does anybody else think he'd be worthwhile? I don't think it's a bad shout and it's much better than some of the calls we've heard in the past year, but I think it's hard to see where he fits in.

Depends who the manager is I guess. At youth level he underwhelmed me tbh. It would be the same issues as with JWP. Can’t play deeper and doesn’t offer enough of what Gallagher or Jordan Henderson does/did as that number 8 type style.

He’s not getting in over Mainoo or a few others of that style because of overall quality on the ball.

I tend to agree although, for sentimental reasons alone, I'd love to see the captain of our Under 20 World Cup winning team from 2017 finally get some senior recognition. The two ACLs he picked up didn't help him, but considering we've only got Dominic Solanke from that squad in the England set up right now, a call up for Lewis Cook would be richly deserved.

If it’s Tuchel Gallagher could be involved as he integrated him into the Chelsea team quickly once he returned from his Palace loan just before he got the sack.

I didn't know about Konsa. I saw that team, featuring the likes of Cook, Tomori, Calvert-Lewin and Solanke, dismantle the Netherlands in a World Cup warm up tournament at Oldham 6 months earlier. As always, they just couldn't handle Patrick Roberts.

Have we really dumped Gordon after one bad performance?

With their being a good chance of a different manger for the next matches everyone’s place is at stake. I am not sure how well suited to a Tuchel system he is,

That's pretty much how I see it. I think he's got a slightly deeper skill set than JWP and is a bit more mobile, but he's not enough of a specialist to be able to have an impact in the senior side.
