On the flip side he's being a bit of a fanny if he's trying to dodge a move to Atletico imo.

Exactly. You might love being at your boyhood team, but when the club no longer values you and the manager just sees you as a squad player, then it really is time to cut the apron strings. Go and play CL football under one of the world's elite coaches and shove it in Chelsea's face.

He's another homeboy. Probably holding out for a move to another London club

If I'm Guehi I'd rather just stay at Palace and wait for a better destination.

Looking around the majority of people will be disappointed if Kane starts the match against Ireland. Majority want him to retire or be dropped and Watkins/Toney/Palmer/Gordon to play the striker roles.

Most people who don’t want him retire or be dropped very likely wouldn’t have thought to vocalise this opinion on social media. I imagine most on this forum hold the opinion, but didn’t think it was worth bringing up!

I do think with Kane is that what's obvious is that the next manager needs to play to his strengths, I don't doubt he was injured during that Euros but I think a lot of his Champions League performances also showed he's physically declining.

We can't be running Kane/Saka/Foden or Kane/Saka/Grealish front 3s. There has to be a serious running threat in that frontline. Rashford, Gordon or even Sterling are currently the only contenders.

I don't want Kane omitted from the squad but I definitely don't think that's true either.

And Gordon is probably the better option until such time as when Rashford shows his form again. .

Kane is still good but had a shit euros

I think cole palmer is the answer as a false 9 style forward but more direct than Kane

It's a bit extreme, but I do think we need to wait for someone to actually make a good case for playing ahead of him, which only Watkins has come close to doing recently.

No harm in starting to cast our net though, given that Kane's 31 and we don't know how long we have until he goes into permanent decline. We've all said it, but Solanke is the obvious player who hasn't been looked at yet, and there are less obvious options like Palmer who might plausibly thrive in that position.

Personally I don't think it needs to be a 30-goal-a-season striker, it doesn't even need to be someone "better" than him, it's who fits best with the rest of the team. The past decade of international football shows you don't need a Kane standard number 9 to win an international tournament, you just need someone who can perform a role, chip in with a few goals and most importantly bring the best out of the other world-class players - providing you have them, which fortunately we do at the moment.

I think at this stage of his career you almost need to wire the whole attack around Kane if you want to get the best out of him which essentially means the team will largely go as far as he takes it. It will work in certain games which is why I still want him around, but he also just isn't suited to every game state now.

We need to be giving consistent minutes to other strikers to see how they mesh with the rest of the team because alternatives just haven't been tried often enough. Solanke is the one who I'd like to see most.

If Gallagher does sign a new deal at Chelsea his England place should be in danger. Lack of ambition

I suspect he will sign a new contract at Chelsea and used this whole Athletico saga to get a new improved deal.
