Not currently, but if he has games under his belt come next break (no idea what his timeline for return is) then I don't see him not getting selected.

Pickford dropped. Suspect that might be a permanent change under Carsley at least.

Must be one of the few times we have started a non N.1 in goal and likely the first time outside of a tournament

well said. identity is for me the biggest wild card in international football. its a chicken and an egg thing when pondering if a talent is great for a club because the club identity/tactics are so strong or if the national team identity/tactics are so inferior but either way it's irrelevant. a managers job is to get the best out of an 11 in terms of shape positioning profile and roles. its not an insult to a player to say a Pep makes them great. very few players have historically transcended by being great for multiple clubs managers and a national team. the ones that do generally are beyond world class for a year or two or even for their era and ascend to being all time greats which is a different thing all together.

FFS. We have left backs in this country. Why do we keep shoving players in a different position to what they play.

What's with the numerically sequential line-ups all the time. A way to obfuscate the formation?

perhaps Walker will form a back 3 and Trent will push into midfield as an inverted fullback giving Jude the ability to push up more.

    -----------Walker--Stones--Guehi
    ----------Rice------Angel-----Trent
    -----------------------Jude
    ----Palmer---------Kane--------Grealish

    something like that in possession.

otherwise I agree play a proper left back even if they are not the champagne choice.

Not sure about that line up, feel we lack some pace going forward that’s for sure. Grealish on the left, Palmer on the right?

Don't think we need pace going forward. Finland played a low block last time. Its pace in defense we need as they did get through with counters a couple of times. Hence Guehi and Walker presumably.

Grealish can get to the byline and cut it back or across. But neither Walker or Palmer play like that. Palmer is going to cut in. Its basically the issue in the euros where one sides attacking output could be completely ignored.

At least it is more structured than the last lineup (not saying much).

I hope Livramento gets off the bench. Looking at the bench we have some real talent. 5 options should be getting at least 20 minutes.

It'll be a midfield box with Bellingham and Rice pushed up behind Kane, while Gomes and TAA receive the ball from the back line.

Playing right footed left-backs and left footed right-backs is a slowly growing trend in football and something we're probably going to see more of in the coming years. The angles can give advantages in playing out of an aggressive high press and can just give another dimension to buildup in general.

In general though I think Trent at left-back is interesting if he's given a bit of freedom. I'd still prefer an actual left-back but of the options in this current match day squad it's not a bad one imo.

Carsley says he always planned to use Henderson during one of the matches.

I find this reaction very odd.

Who are the left backs you want to play? Why are you surprised by this two weeks after the squad was announced?

They know that no one wants to run in behind, so they'll keep pressing high.

Whoever gets this job has got to stop playing these lineups with Kane up top and two ball to feet wingers. We've tried it a million times and it never looks good.

Why bring in Livramento who has played at left-back.
Instead Trent who has never played at left back is tried there. That is what I am surprised about.

We're still just really laboured and slow in possession. I'd like to see Livramento for Walker (Trent back to RB), Madueke for Palmer and Solanke for Kane at some point.

Arsenal play timber as an inverted lb and it can work if they are not overlapping

that’s when I need the midfielder to go wide to let the winger come in

Doesn't mean we've been good. Shouldn't be settling for this level of performance.
