I disagree to be honest. I think we'd be losing the ball less, and looking less exposed when we do. I don't think the positions Rice takes up are that great, I'm not sure he's learned to do that, because he's always had his athleticism to bail him out. I could see Gomes or Grealish coming on at some point if only to try and regain some controlled possession.

 

We've basically gone from a manager who liked to play six at the back to one who prefers just two! Bring Walker on to give us at least three back there - and position someone in front of them to provide a screen. This is just incredibly naive so far from Carsley.

 

Who in the FA? It’s a sports governing body full of hundreds of people with differing opinions, there isn’t one homogenous view.

 

I don't think Rice has played well but we'd have been absolutely nailed on transition with Gomes. He's slowed down quite a few counters on that right hand side. He's been unusually weak in duels though.

 

Early days in the second half, but it looks like Palmer is playing a bit deeper and closer to Rice.

He should have changed things at half time I'll say that much. ITV said he couldn't but I really don't see why that's the case. Would have shown he was proactive.

 

Can't say it wasn't coming. Bizarre we didn't change at half time. Naive line up and performance, can't help but think it will cost Carsley the job barring a very dramatic turnaround.

I'm as big a supporter of Carsley getting a chance as anyone but this is an extremely bizarre team that is going to look even worse if it's on the end of a home loss to Greece.

The team resembles one usually selected by Twitter fans not a professional manager.

Not sure about that like-for-like change after Saka got injured. Move Foden or Palmer out there and bring on a striker or Gomes to help control the midfield, surely? The system isn't working.
