And Salah and Mane were always looking to cut in towards goal. Gordon and Saka tend to stay wider.

Bowen would be a better wide option if we're going to play this way.

The fact that Lewis and colwill have been our most impressive players says everything

I think this match confirms that Pickford and Rice won’t be involved come the World Cup. Carsley will replace Pickford wifh Trafford as soon as he can and Rice will probably be replaced in the second half with Gomes or Jones who will become first choice pretty quickly.

Don't be daft. You really come out with some mental observations

He is miserable. Matterface is actually enjoyable on Talksport commentary but working with Dixon doesn’t work at all.

Can you stop making these types of predictions years out from the tournament, you did the same with Henderson and failed to have acknowledge how wrong you were despite repeating it on daily/weekly basis.

If that were true then why wouldn't Carsley start Gomes tonight instead of Rice? He's got a minimum of six games to try and audition for the job; if he's holding something back for 2025 then he's a bit confused about what's happening.

We'd probably be losing this if Gomes was on instead of Rice.

One of the most tactically ludicrous halves of football I can recall seeing from England.

Foden and Palmer as 8s with Trent pushing so high up we’re getting totally exposed on the break.
Bellingham has done OK but too often there’s no one in the box when we attack.
The absurd passage of play where we had Saka, Foden and Palmer all passing to each other in the wide right position to put in a cross.
Gordon is a concern with his lack of quality on the ball even if he is hardworking. There’s no excuse for not bringing that pass from Colwill under control at the end of the half.
Rice poor as an isolated 6
Pickford looking shaky now he’s expected to be better on the ball.
Lewis is too easy to push off the ball

There’s no way we can play a team like this against a decent side so Carsley needs to bin if off now.

Second half. Foden left. Bellingham alongside rice. Palmer In middle. Solanke on for Gordon

He was just as bad when he had McCoist on commentary with him.

True but maybe he doesn’t want to rock the boat just yet. Rice is very popular with the Fa who have been assuming he is the next captain.

I think theres going to be some growing pains with Carsley and what he demands from this team, they'll probably need a few windows to get used to it, but this lineup is clearly unworkable. We're losing every second ball, most duels and can't make the ball stick up top.

It's not the 1950s. The manager has full control over the team.

Really don’t see it with Foden and England. Gets multiple opportunities and never turns up. Been shite again.

His decision making is genuinely really poor, it sticks out a lot at international level.

A mixed bag for me, weak on the ball at times and poor positioning in a couple of defensive transitions.

He is still an interim manager facing talk of Pep or Howe.

I think people are slowly catching on. Still a lot of people think his player of the PL season was actually justified.
