Could also play Foden as a false 9 instead of Solanke and get Palmer Bellingham and Foden in the same team.
Some of the press are clearly hoping he fails going by the tone of their articles. There is clearly an element of the press who don’t like certain players as well and will criticise Carsley if it’s those who benefit to the detriment of players they like. We saw in the summer how some journalists focused their criticism on certain names and others got away with little criticism.

https://talksport.com/football/2125...harry-kane-lee-carsley-greece-nations-league/ Talksport predicting Palmer at left back. Pickford, Alexander - Arnold, Guehi, Stones, Palmer, Rice, Gomes, Bellingham, Saka, Gordon and Watkins.
All the talk about how big a challenge it is getting the superstar three all involved comes across as if they think he is not the right manager to do so. The below article one example. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/f...-Cole-Palmer-Jude-Bellingham-OLIVER-HOLT.html And also all the continued talk about other names who might well be more popular choices
They'd be saying the same thing about Palmer, Foden and Bellingham if Pep was the Manager. As for there are more popular choices The general public had barely heard of him before he became manager.
That's behind a paywall, I can't imagine anyone on here has a DailyMail+ subscription! These are they types of articles written regardless of which manager is in charge. He's still in an interim role, so of course there's talk about other choices. I haven't read a single one of these articles, and feel no less enriched, worth giving a try!
For me that is not giving off ‘clearly hoping he fails’ vibes. Just critique of options that would happen under any coach.

Was Carsley being serious about Palmer being able to play left back? I seriously hope he was just joking.
Two critical goals and MOM performances for England at Euro 24... UEFA Champions League winner... La Liga Player of the Season... UEFA Champions League Young Player of the Season... Golden Boy winner... and all at 20 years of age. Jude Bellingham had a heck of a season for club and country. Why do you say Phil Foden would be fuming more for not getting the England POTY award?
I'm not 100% on the criteria for this award but Jude probably deserved it. I was watching some of his YouTube documentary and he was saying that being snubbed for awards really gets to him so he probably will be annoyed at not winning this.
I could see him being serious, but it would be like Rico Lewis' performance against Finland where he spend most of his time in an #8ish position while we had a back three in possession.
Because they all being built up as rivals to be the most important player of the team. I think Foden and Palmer do get on through unlike the rumours between him and Bellingham.
‘Noni Madueke: “I think the sky’s the limit for Cole Palmer. I don’t know if he has a ceiling, I don’t know what his ceiling is”. “He a very unique player. A type of player that doesn’t feel pressure, in the most pressurised situations!”, told @TheAthleticFC.’ Liverpool full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold, 26, could be convinced to run down his contract at Anfield to join Real Madrid on a free transfer by England team-mate Jude Bellingham. (Sun), external Real Madrid are stepping up their interest in Alexander-Arnold but Liverpool are hopeful they can convince the 26-year-old to stay. (Football Insider) Jack Grealish remains adamant Gareth Southgate made a mistake with the devastating decision to leave him out of England's squad for the European Championships. (Daily Telegraph) Levi Colwill turned his back on one of England's most exclusive neighbourhoods to move back with his family. (The Sun) AC Milan stars Fikayo Tomori and Tammy Abraham are reportedly at risk of being dropped after ignoring manager Paulo Fonseca's penalty orders against Fiorentina. (Daily Mail) Nottingham Forest are hopeful that Morgan Gibbs-White could be fit to face Crystal Palace after the international break. (The Athletic)

But why do you think Phil Foden is "more fuming" at missing out on the award than Jude? Do you think he's that blind to the reality of his disappointing performances, that he actually believes he's been the best player in an England shirt this year?
