That would be a logical decision but promoting an U21 like Rogers is probably more likely.

Not until either Hall is promoted or Shaw returns I suspect.

Ward-Prowse send off for a second yellow as his career declines. Funny how not long ago some were adamant that he should play for England.

Just how the FA seem to dislike calling up players as replacements unless really needed.

Was thinking that. He would have walked into the England team 5 years ago. Now he wouldn't get anywhere near the squad

What makes you think that was an FA policy and not simply the former managers choice? Why would the FA be against calling up replacements?

    Madueke injured now.

Replacements would surely be needed if three or more withdraw as haivng a smaller bench is just so unprofessional

I’m not sure. Hopefully Carsley either can freely do so or if the FA resist can overrule them.

And if he pulls out he absolutely will need replacing. Probably by Hall with the squad only having three centre backs.

There's no logic at all to the idea that the FA has been randomly making those decisions over the manager's head. Bizarre piece of guesswork.

Nuno on Morgan Gibbs-White injury for #NFFC: "We are worried about him. He is going to have a scan tomorrow. We are hoping it is nothing serious so he can go to the [England] squad."

Nuno Espirito Santo on Gibbs-White: "We are worried, he is going to be assessed, we hope he joins the England squad so he can join and play. We need him. It was an ankle problem."

Maresca on Colwill and Madueke injury concerns: "I think they are both okay when they went inside. I have not seen them but I think they are okay."

England generally name oversized squads, presumably with the presumption there will be a few drop outs.

The underage squads which tend to be smaller always readily have replacements ready to go so it's clearly not fa lead.

‘Kompany on the injuries: "It's still too early to say what Harry has. We hope it's nothing serious. ‘

‘Ezri Konsa is likely to be withdrawn from the Three Lions squad for the upcoming internationals.
'I don’t know exactly, but I think it’s the hamstring. We don’t know if it’s a big or small injury. Hopefully, it’ll be a small injury,' said Unai Emery following the 0-0 draw with United. ‘

That man Welbz again doing the damn thing. Surely he deserves a recall. I have memories of Roger Milla replaying as a romantic story of an aged reluctant hero returns to for one last dance.

    Y'all feel me?

Ezri Konsa and Morgan Gibbs-White came off with injuries and may force England to call up replacements

Lee Carsley has been dealt a double injury blow as England prepare to meet up for their forthcoming Uefa Nations League matches.

Ezri Konsa is out having suffered an apparent hamstring injury early on in Aston Villa’s goalless home draw with Manchester United.

Another absentee is expected to be Morgan Gibbs-White who was substituted in the second-half of Nottingham Forest’s 1-1 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. It appeared the midfielder suffered an ankle or lower leg injury as he attempted to strike the ball.

Konsa went down under a challenge from United’s Rasmus Hojlund with Villa manager Unai Emery later saying the injury to the central defender still needed to be properly assessed. But the expectation is that he will not be fit to face either Greece – at Wembley on Thursday – or against Finland in Helsinki on Sunday.

“I don’t know, hopefully it’s not a lot. Hopefully, he can rest in the international break,” Emery said. “We can have some days off [in the international break] we can recover our energy and try to push in the next month.”

There was more bad news for Carsley with Harry Maguire, a potential replacement for Konsa having been dropped from the squad announced last week, also going off at half-time.

Maguire was seen wearing a protective boot leaving Villa Park and needed to be replaced along with Noussair Mazraoui in United’s 0-0 draw.

“We have to take them off at half-time. We have to see what is the diagnosis on it,” Erik Ten Hag said.

“We have to assess this. I can’t tell you now what the issue is. I know what the issue is but [I cannot say now] how good or bad it is. We have to assess this tomorrow [Monday] and then we will bring you news.”

Carsley will assess his options having named a 25-man squad last week. There was a scare for England captain Harry Kane, who was substituted during the second half of Bayern Munich’s 3-3 Bundesliga draw at Eintracht Frankfurt following a collision which left him in need of treatment on his right thigh before being substituted for Mathys Tel.

Among the defenders, Levi Colwill was replaced late on for Chelsea but it is understood he should still report to St George’s Park with the rest of the squad on Monday.

Carsley will almost certainly have to replace Konsa with just three fit centre-halves in his squad. Another possible option, Jarrad Branthwaite, missed Everton’s draw at home with Newcastle United on Saturday also through injury.

Gibbs-White’s absence can be covered more easily, with Jude Bellingham back in the squad along with Cole Palmer and Phil Foden, but Carsley may consider a recall for Tottenham’s in-form James Maddison or Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze, who was dropped from the squad having been called up last month. Carsley has also discussed a first inclusion for Villa’s Morgan Rogers.

Meanwhile the Times is suggesting Lewis Dunk could be Ezri Konsa’s replacement.

Harry Kane hands England fresh injury scare before Nations League games

Bayern Munich striker was was forced off against Eintracht Frankfurt, while Ezri Konsa suffered a hamstring problem in Aston Villa’s draw with Manchester United

Lee Carsley must wait for fitness updates on a number of players, including his captain Harry Kane, before England’s Nations League games with Greece and Finland.

Kane was substituted in the 72nd minute of Bayern Munich’s 3-3 draw with Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday, having first required treatment.

The striker also suffered an ankle knock last weekend, although he did feature in Bayern’s Champions League defeat by Aston Villa in midweek.

In addition to Kane, Ezri Konsa suffered a hamstring injury in Villa’s draw with Manchester United, while Harry Maguire, his potential replacement, also suffered a fitness setback in the same game. The United defender left Villa Park wearing a protective boot.

The absence of Konsa would leave England with only three recognised centre backs in the squad that Carsley, the interim manager, picked on Thursday in John Stones, Marc Guéhi and Levi Colwill. Colwill also filled in at left back for the win over Ireland last month.

Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite is injured and Jarell Quansah, the Liverpool centre back, has been selected for England Under-21. Brighton & Hove Albion’s Lewis Dunk is available.

England will also check on Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White and the Chelsea winger Noni Madueke, who were substituted in the 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge.

Carsley’s side take on Greece at Wembley on Thursday before playing Finland in Helsinki on Sunday.
