The gameplan appears to be to out Emery Aston Villa. Sit deep and don't try to hold possession or push up, looking for opportunities on the break. It's making for a really boring game so far.
Think I’d rather see Tomori given another opportunity but wouldn’t grumble with Gomez or Kilman. I just don’t see the need to make the U21’s weaker for these games by promoting them when we already have good senior options to select from.
Gomez doesn’t fit what seems to be Carsley’s idea that players should be playing regularly to get a call up. A promoted player from U21’s due to logistical reasons are more likely to be exempted from that.
On the BBC Radio commentary just now the commentator implied Carsley was going to call up Branfhwaite but then he got injured mid week.
I don't think its a bad injury but he didn't play for Everton in the last game so I doubt he'll play for England.
In which case he would just promote Hall or Hinshelwood or bring back Livramento. I doubt he would call up Mitchell or Davis
Webster, Dunk, Hinshelwood and Welbeck start for Brighton. Steele is on the bench. Maddison and Solanke start for Spurs. Forster, Spence, Gray, Moore and Lankshear are on the bench. Kane starts for Bayern. Dier on the bench.
If it’s only Konsa and Gibbs - White withdrawing they might not need to be any replacements but any more than they will have to be or it’s not a full bench which looks awful.
Hinshelwood isn't a full-back and Livramento is a right-back. I don't even care who it is at this point, I just want a left footed left-back in the squad for some balance. Not that I think we're gonna see it any time soon.
