It is with a heavy heart we have learned that QPR legend Stan Bowles has passed away.A footballing icon and arguably the greatest to have ever worn our famous blue and white hoops. All our thoughts are with his family and friends at this sad time.RIP, Stan. Forever R’s. 💙🤍— QPR FC (@QPR) February 24, 2024 RIP Stan Bowles.
Rice is great in those inswinging set pieces from the left also played as an 8 today rather than a single pivot or double looked good. Saka is well in form
Foden hasn't been anywhere near as decisive Bellingham for England. He is 2nd/3rd choice for the position and is currently a winger for England.
When has Foden ever played as a no 10 for England . Foden can dictate and control the tempo of a game unlike any other midfielder we have . For me Bellingham is a goal scoring no 10 . Bellingham is not able to attract the ball like Foden . Bellingham is much better player in midfield and coming from deep scoring goals .. Bellingham has to play in midfield .
Foden can't dictate and control games, at least not reliably. It's a perception of him some fans have that just isn't accurate. Foden is a ball carrier that thrives in fast paced game states.
If we play Trent in midfield against any top team . We will get destroyed . Trent is not a midfielder . Klopp tried him in midfield for a while and quickly realised that Trent is not a midfielder . Trent has a wonderful passing range , but he has no defensive instinct, doesn't read the game well. . Also when he played as a 6 against macedonia he was woeful . And macedonia are a piss poor team.
Foden isn't perfect at dictating games . I will give you that . But he is good enough that Guardiola is starting to trust him to play there .And potentially Foden has the potential to become a master at that role. And at this moment in time he is the best we have at dictating games . Please tell me who we have who can dictate games better than Foden ?.
https://theathletic.com/5294747/2024/02/24/dominic-solanke-interview/ Spoiler (Move your mouse to the spoiler area to reveal the content) Show Spoiler Hide Spoiler As for his own version of fantasy football, yes, there are times when Solanke lies back and thinks of England. He was called up by Gareth Southgate in November 2017, shortly after his move to Liverpool, and made his senior international debut against Brazil. But more than six years on, that remains his only cap, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Ollie Watkins, Tammy Abraham, Callum Wilson, Ivan Toneyand Eddie Nketiah all overtaking him, at various times, in the race to be Harry Kane’s understudy. Rather than have a clear hierarchy for that role, Southgate has often simply gone with the player in form. Right now, that would be Watkins, Toney or Solanke. “Everyone’s dream is to play international football and represent their country,” Solanke says, “so it’s always going to be in my mind. I just need to carry on doing what I’m doing and keep scoring goals for Bournemouth, to try to win as many games as we can. Then it will be down to Gareth who he ends up picking.” Solanke looks far more ready for an England call-up now than he did in 2017, when he had yet to start a Premier League game. “I loved it. It was the best thing,” he says of that game against Brazil. “But yeah, to be playing for the seniors, for England, you need to be one of the best players in your position in one of the big leagues.” For a time, Solanke was one of those who personified English football’s struggle to integrate and develop elite young talents at first-team level. But he agrees there is far more competition for places now. “All over the pitch, there are so many great talents and new players coming through,” he says. “There are so many top English strikers now. It’s not just players in England. There are English players doing well in other leagues, talented players in all positions. It just shows the talent we’ve got.” So does he come off the pitch on a Saturday afternoon anxiously wondering whether Watkins, Wilson or Toney has scored? “Ha ha, no. I just try to score as many as I can,” he says. “There are so many top English strikers. We’re all going to try and score as many goals as we can. It’s up to the manager who he will take to the tournament.” Two starboys going head-to-head in the Premier League 🌟👀 pic.twitter.com/Es9AF9z5D0— Football on TNT Sports (@footballontnt) February 24, 2024 Harry Maguire's game by numbers vs. Fulham:92% pass accuracy80% aerial duel win rate5 clearances4 shots2 key passes1 goalThreat from set pieces. ⚽️ pic.twitter.com/lvRocTaxZN— Statman Dave (@StatmanDave) February 24, 2024 Ollie Watkins is the 𝐅𝐈𝐑𝐒𝐓 player this season to register 25 goal involvements in the Premier League. What a season the striker is having 🤩 pic.twitter.com/Ef81z0NkpM— Football on TNT Sports (@footballontnt) February 24, 2024
