    mmmmm

    Like this.

Its gonna give us a lot of publicity cause its vs England, plus they are a good squad, granted they aint going to EURO 08, but you know the last thing they want to do is lose to us when the other are preparing for the tournament, should be a good matchup

With all the potential big matchups coming up... England, Spain, possibly Argentina, heck even Poland isn't bad (they did make Euro 2008, after all), you've got to wonder why the shift in the US scheduling philosophy. Is it something about those teams being more willing to play the US for some reason? Or are we just pursuing those games more aggressively?

In particular, I'm wondering how much TV is possibly driving this. ESPN has the Euro Cup this summer and maybe part of their promotion for it is trying to feature the US against some prominent teams prior to that?

Well should be a good game, and besides that might be the game that both Donovan, and Beckham get the milestone for there respective countries.

In all I think its a very good idea to go play England, and I think the US can go to England, and beat them at Wembley. I do hope it does happen, because in June US plays Spain at think in Spain also right. Its good to see that we are playing more abroad games, and improving ourselves there instead of staying home.

I would also say that June 12, 2006, had something to do with this shift in philosophy.

Well, personally I think this will be a great match. Say whatever you want about Sunil and USSF but they have doing a great job scheduling. The only game I'm a little disappointed in is Poland, we've already played them and don't see the point of playing them again. The fact that we're facing Spain and England away will really be a measuring stick for our players. Wouldn't mind to see some of these big games played in the US though.

This is a pretty easy way out of the Beckham/100th cap saga for Capello.

Let's see. We're playing Spain, England, and Argentina as preparation for our WC qualifying round which begins June 15th against either Dominica or Barbados. :)

i'm glad to hear that we are beginning to play more friendlies in europe. as we showed in '06, our form on the continent was (and has has historically been) pretty woeful. i think it will be good for the team, especially the younger guys, to play in a hostile environment. as fun as it is to beat up on CONCACAF opponents in the US, it's not going to get us very far in the next world cup

Yes, its a big step up in the quality of friendlies we're playing. Actually this has been the case since the last world cup. We're playing tough AWAY matches a lot more often.

As US fans we have to expect results to be more difficult to achieve, though. We could easily get destroyed by Argentina, Spain, and England. That's just reality. We could play El Salvador, China, and Guatemala and go 3-0.

I'd much rather play a tough schedule and get drilled (learning experience for young players, etc.) than play El Salvador and win. We don't learn much from that we don't already know. For instance Drew Moor could look like Paolo Maldini against the Sallies, but up against a big team he obviously doesn't cut.

You are entitled to your opinion, but I think that the US have what it takes to beat these team. It won't be a blowout wins, but we can come out to win 1-0, 2-1, and other winning scores. In all US should be able to keep up with any of these teams, and maybe come out with a win.

I totally agree. I love the fact that we are starting to play tough teams in Europe. If we are able to go and play Spain in Spain, or England in England and come away with at least a draw, that is a great accomplishment right there. Even a loss leaves our young players with great experience against great teams. This is what we need to finally be able to compete in big tournaments. Let's throw ourselves in there with the big fishes when it doesn't really matter, so when it does matter, we'll be prepared.

This will be an incredible set of friendlies. Hopefully Bradley will call up what would realistically be the best team we can send.

On a semi unrelated note, I wish we were playing Argentina at La Bombonera. Now that would be a real test. Nothing brings out your best like fearing for your life. :D

We shall replace that European grin out their euros-nob faces with a Mexican look of despair.....(Lord Sidious tone ....)

Let use the same team we use against Brazil with a few modification ....So they better pray to a good referee to protect their superior FIFA status...

The Three **********cats are not what they once were. They're simply a shadow of themselves from 40+ years ago. They've consistently declined in ability since 1966 and are somehow subsisting on their former glory. I needn't go into the gory details of their current state, but assure you they are fragile and easily beatable - even at Wembly.
