It’s because diving is only a yellow and therefore the fuels as written say VAR intervene. But because the Argentine had been given a yellow it was classed as mistaken identity.
As a neutral, I’m very much looking forward for this match. Probably the most historical rematch in the World Cup in the knockout round. Ever.
Can all the septics stop trying to force a rivalry with us? You got given a good thumping in the last round lads. Go back to wearing body armour to play rugby instead.
Who are you referring to here mate? I’ve not seen any Americans acting this way on this thread or you talking generally?

Just seen the sending off at the game overnight. Argentina are vile, their team is vile the supporters are vile, the racist Nazi loving Argentinian people are vile BUT that was blatant cheating! What the bloody hell was he thinking! Off in tears and serves the idiot right - he let himself down, his team down and Switzerland down, to think you can cheat like that and get away with it these days is at best stupid..........idiot!
This would be directly against the wishes of multiple fifa vice-presidents and some of the most senior people institutionally in the organization. It could be he does it sincerely, or he’s just signposting to the South Americans (the ones who want it) that he *tried.* https://t.co/o1ZpbhpWrp— Adam Crafton (@AdamCrafton_) July 12, 2026 Is he being genuine or just trying to keep South America happy. I don't have a huge problem with a 64 team world cup over a 48, on the proviso they only allowed 2 teams to advance from each group and don't completely botch the number of teams from each continent. I really don't think Asia should be getting many more teams in the tournament, I'm relatively confident the 20-25th ranked Uefa nations could comfortably beat those in Asia from 8-15.
