Yeah, I'm baffled to hear that described as "harsh". It's a random way to get sent off but it's entirely his own fault.

It's annoying because the best outcome for us here is extra time and that suddenly doesn't seem very likely.

 

Hopefully Switzerland can at least take this into extra time to tire out their legs, even things up with us!

Thank you very much to Switzerland, taking Argentina to ET will go down very nicely. Almost impossible to imagine them holding out for extra time but a brave effort nonetheless.

 

Every chance the Swiss would have won this with 11 men, still a chance but would probably take pens.

 

I don’t think the officials in Miami would do FIFA’s bidding. They would lose their UEFA’s carers if people felt that. It’s so obvious how much UEFA is distancing itself from FIFA.

Some of the Argentinian's look out on their feet, fortunate that the Swiss went down a man otherwise I suspect they'd have found extra time a struggle

Argentina have have looked poor but they have scored 3 in all but 1 match at this World Cup! (And scored two in that). Might be quite a high scoring match on Wednesday.

 

No problems with the Embolo second yellow when taken in isolation.
I do have an issue though where diving outside of the box is only reviewed when a player is falsely booked in the first place. We don't want VAR reviewing every incident, but that does feel a better option then selective reviews in these cases, and it should include players faking injuries to parts of the body that weren't touched.

 

This has been the side quest that I didn't know I needed in my life.
