Tevez has been better than Rooney in every season in the last decade simply because he is a better player - but guess what, in Manchester United, he was only a sub to Rooney.

When you pay 35 million pounds for Andy Carroll when at the same time you spent only 22 million pounds for Suarez, that effectively means thats 35 million pounds that could have been used elsewhere. Kenny Dalglish's legacy in liverpool FC was tarnished by only one thing - his last stint as manager. And that was because he, inspite of his experience, kind of fell for the English player hype sadly.

This loss can be attributed to three things.
1) Rooney taking up space. (Argentina has the same problem with Higuain, Spain had the same problem with Raul)
2) players may actually be under pressure because they are apparently world-class and they need to match up to that billing which may be difficult when some of them may not be world-class
3) maybe Iceland were better

Not many non English people were shocked to be honest by the result. The manner, maybe though. But yeah, the English hype machine is kind of going overboard by how shocked they were as usual. If England loses against Germany also, the whining and bitching is still the same regardless.

For the record, I did think England was a dark horse for the championship if they played their best team possible but they did not play their best team - which means all bets are off.

Nobody from this forum goes into the USMNT forum after they get beaten and lecture them what to do...

But the Iceland player would be cheaper than a comparable English player, so why on earth would a Premier League club not replace the English player?

In fact I started to watch the game cause there was surprise in the air. I didn't think it was a secure win for iceland but of all games in this QF round this was the best candidate for a underdog win.
