I wish to God we had some goddamn positivity on this forum. A place for fans of the England team (i.e - English people.) is being crudely overran by plastics and spazzos from California, Scotchville, Socktown and the Planet Mars with chips the size of the State of Oregon on their shoulders.

If you want to whine about how overrated and delusion we are, then please join your own resident socks in the USA forum. (Talking to you Baron, Lampard, West Ham, ManUSA and other comical socks with about as much validity and sense as a carrott.)

Please don't lower the standard down. I lose brain cells every time someone like that writes on this board with non-sensical issues upon dreary tones about how shite England are. Or how some prick from California doesn't like us. If you don't like it, move elsewhere or simply don't bother posting. (And yes, I'm well aware of the irony of me writing this in my flat in Northern Paris.)

So how's about we list some positives going into Germany in a few months as to the main reasons that we stand a good chance of winning the world cup.

    I'll list the first one;

    Wayne Rooney

The kid could single handly take a shower of shite like Togo or Angola and make them into world-beaters.

And then we have Peter Crouch.

The man who wrote the screenplay for 'Snakes on a Plane.'

No other country in the world can boast someone like Wayne Rooney on their team. A guy who can score a 30 yard drive and rip your knackers off at the same time. Or a 7ft giant with a great first touch, that would make Ronaldinho gloat with envy.

    Have at it...

    :)

Rooney is worth watching on his own, he turned it on big time at Euro 2004 and I expect him to be the same here.

Gerrard, Lampard, a much improved Joe Cole, Terry and Ferdinand at the back. Robinson in goal in place of Calamity James.

I'm well up for it

Like I have said before there is no reason why England should not make it to the final of the World Cup. They have the biggest names in the sport and their players play in the world's best league.

Lampard, Terry, Rooney, Owen, Beckham, Campbell can it get any better than that?

The US dreams of having those types of players on their national team.

If Brazil messes up I say it is up for grabs for either England, Italy, France, or Czech Republic.

I was kind of wondering when one of the English fans would start a thread like this. I'm not really a fan per se, but I hope England does well. And just to put things in perspective, since the last WC (even the Euros) England have, on paper at least, improved a lot:

Rooney, as mentioned above, is a matchwinner. I doubt he'll score as many goals this time around, as he's more of a known factor, but I think his overall contribution to the team will be greater.

Joe Cole has emerged as a genuine threat on the left-hand side of midfield, and he's having probably his best season as a pro. No more Scholes or Hargreaves being played horribly out of position on the left. And Downing, another left midfielder, has emerged as well.

Beckham, for all his criticisms, is having (from what I can gather) his best season yet in Madrid, and if he can transfer that form to the NT, maybe he won't be such a liability.

Carrick is looking like a solution to the DM problem, and Hargreaves can play there as well.

Heskey is nowhere near the NT:D

England have the most depth of any nation, IMO, at centre back. Terry, Ferdinand, King, Carragher, Woodgate, etc. Ferdinand played brilliantly at the last WC, and this is the first major tournament he's played in since then, hopefully he will put in a similar performance.

Robinson is playing well at Tottenham, and has looked very solid for England when I've seen him.

Lampard and Gerrard, although they don't work together in the centre, either one playing will give England a strong CM.

So, I think England's chances are fairly good, provided Sven chooses to play with a DM.

it's not very likely that we will win the world cup, so it would be a nice surprise if we did.

the best thing about it would be not winning itself, but that it would piss off the scottish. a lot.
