Is this sh1t supposed to be for real? How can they even do this and take themselves seriously? This is just a disgrace...
if denton is our best defender I think I have the sole reason why we didn't make the playoffs. Nothing against dents but if he's our best defender we're fuct.
Our defenders: Torres - gone Dunseth - gone Williams - 5 games, 5 cards and one missed game due to suspension McCarty - didn't see PT at the end (why?) Clark - PK here, PK there, PK everywhere Hejduk - a couple of key mistakes but solid otherwise (my choice for the award) Oughton - only two games in the back Akwari - possible winner next year unless Gibbs comes along That leaves Denton, the dead one, as one of the top two. Management, being blind as they are, probably chose alphabetically dropping Hejduk to second.
i don't think all of them are that far off from the correct winners... denton as defender of the year is funny sh but other than that...
Crew awards bs style.... Let's have em...I'll start Worst Haircut; Martino The Seattle thing died and so did the batteries for his clippers.
It's not about them being right or wrong or given to the "correct winners" fid. What I was trying to say is that after such a season, I can't really stand giving out awards to ourselves. It's like winning a bronze in the Special Olympics. Nice for the winner, but kind of sad when you think about it. I think its good to name a team MVP, but the rest of it is just panty-waste. Brian Maisonneuve, Crew Coaches Award What rubbish... vital midfield cog... that's so fvcking lame I can't even laugh at it. Mike Clark, U.S. Soccer Foundation Humanitarian of the Year And his humanitarian work was appreciated by the 9 other teams of MLS, as he was gracious enough to give many charity goals away this season. God, this whole thing makes me want to retch. I hope next season we are actually worthy of giving ourselves awards. Maybe these are just the parting gifts for those two, who I hope are graceful enough to retire soon.
Granted, the season sucked.....but you do realize that nearly every team throughout American sports does this at the end of the year. I mean, I think even FF's Bengals do this. All of us knew that Mais was a coaches favorite and thats why he stayed on the field ahead of others who may have proven better (Walsh, Oughton). As for Clark getting a Humanatarian award, it has nothing to do with what he did on the field, so he probably did deserve it. There are plenty of things to be upset about this season, a few 5 dollar trophies are the least of my concerns.
The problem is when you read articles like the one in the dispatch this morning. Adrulis and Co have already set up scouting trips and whatnot. It just seems to me that big greg is going to be back. At least we did our part and voiced our opinion.
I'm really thinking the writing is on the wall that Andrulis is gonna be back also. It's mind boggling.
i cant believe you're ripping on martino like that. next time i see you im going to beat you with a drumstick.
Yes, I realize this The award was probably because he was their little monkey boy all season... I realize this as well... that's why it was a joke It's not so much that they're giving out $5 trophies, it's more of a concern that they're using this as a means to try and throw some positive spin on things when they should be more concerned with solving issues internally.
Denton was not only one of the few options they had to pick for defender of the year but i dont see how he wouldnt deserve it. frankie could have won it as well but he got the other award that he sure as hell deserved. Denton was solid all year, he never did ANYTHING to cost us a game. Out of all the games we lost in th 80+ minutes i dont ever recall those game winning goals coming from dentons side. that must tell you something. He was solid on defense as well as the times he would go up on offense. i think that he is absolutely deserving of this award!
Man you guys just crack me up. It is sad that someones opinion is considered wrong if it doesnt agree with yours. And just to let you know that i am an 18 year old girl, I am sure eric has much better things to do, and i doubt he has ever even looked at this site.
Well that was just my own personal opinion. Don't care it's not with the majority. Oh, and I do agree with Denton as the Defender of the Year, no one else better. :/ Depressing.
Let me go on record as saying that here in the most massive forum on bigsoccer, we do not, I repeat, we do not, take the opinion of women, unless of course you are hot. Meaning you must be at minimum, six feet tall, and no more than 120 lbs. Furthermore you must be able to run a mile in less than 8 minutes, and must have a current membership to a local fitness club. Bearing in mind these rules it is obvious that Kelsea's opinion will not count, and should be deleted by the moderators of this most massive forum.
